A hidden power was discovered by the people of Sil. A feirce power with much use sense the lands of Sil were filled with savage beasts and monsters. Certin people were able to tap that power and use it. They traped the power with in cards for latter use. Useing this power they managed to reduce the threat of the inhuman tribes and humanity spread.

The cards became a sporting game a way for those with the "gift" to show the skill and strength against one and another. Eventully they had a tournament to see who should rule over man kind. The winner was Kly the Pure.

One of the fighters with the skill and knowledge to make cards still. He made 8 kingdoms to each king he gave a difrent soul card dealing with an element. He rulled useing the suport and advise of his seven kings.

Kly eventully died of old age. A second tournament was held and a foolish new king came to power. He forced used his postion unwisely and eventully all 8 kingdoms left his control. A new dark age begun as each king died from old age and new and inexperinced kings took on the jobs they were not prepaired for.

2000 years have passed and the people now live with little or no knowledge of what happened so long ago. Still there are thos born with the gift of knowing how to use the cards.

OOC: You may want to read the OOC to better understand the idea here.

IC: Justin walks into the store of the local town. "Do you sell card here?" 'We have a small number here.' "Well can I see whats for sell then?" The old grey beared shop keeper opens a case. I look at the cards noticeing nothing that I would need another one of. "So you really don't have much."

'Actully I had quite a few cards. Nothing rare mind you but still enough to be keep a persons intrest up. The problem is that most of them were bought in preperation for the up comeing tournament.'

"Tournament?" 'Yea didn't you notice it posted when you came in?' I glance back at the old wood door frame. There is a note there as plain as the eye can see. "No I missed it."

'It's a pretty simple one. There doing it in preperation for the big one.' "Big one." I raised an eye brow in couriosity. 'The king of the entire kingdom of earth is going to hold a tournament soon for some reason. I haven't herd why or any reason to it.'

"So whats the point of entering? Personally I would just watch and pick up tips to use against those I fight in the latter one." 'Well theres a soul card up as a prize.' "Whats it's name?" 'The Cat soul card.' "Haven't herd of it?" 'You'd have to ask some one else to find out. I actully don't know.'

I look down at the floor. Right now I have only one soul card. The hunter. It's a strong card and all but if I get another soul card I'll be more flexable. Something I want if I'm going to be traveling alot. "How do you enter?" I look up at him. 'Theres a spot in town square.' "I'll take you two of the potions of life."

Card Masters are a funny sort.

At this point in history, Magic itself is not very common. No more do humans weave their spells from the eight known elemental pillars -- gone are the days when men and women gathered the essences of aether and created their own beasts and relics to combat the curses of spiteful gods. But the channels still remain, and traces of the Ancient Cards still exist... and the game is still played.

A slender boy walks down the cobblestoned, quiet street. It is Sabbath, and young children play at being Card Masters outside in expectation of the coming tournament while adults sleep, so few tread the path with him. His name is Devin. He looks to be about sixteen years of age... slightly shy of six feet tall, wearing grey and blue cotton and soft leather, with a slender build and sensitive eyes.

Generally, the sensitive eyes are the key.

Card Masters are insightful and intelligent, but they never fit in very well. Unless they are raised away from society, even at tender ages of six or seven they find adults relying on them to protect the villages from harm, or take care of others. The task is lonely and embittering. Life is lonely and embittering.

And the aether is an unreliable friend... for it sides with good and evil alike.

Devin keeps his Cards and what little copper or silver he has in the pouch in front of his waist. Even if his cards were stolen, however, he would be able to recreate them... he knows the paths to reach his friends, the monsters. Some of the monsters had not seen wielders in a long time... not all monsters can be found in the cards that are carefully produced in the kingdoms around the world, and then sold to traders.

Devin's village was poor, and he has never bought a single card. His deck is scanty, but diverse, for he has forged each card through careful meditation. He loves them all...

He hopes to get a job as a mercenary, now, perhaps get some money, and retire a war wizard. For that is the job of Card Masters, is it not? To fight... their only purpose...

He sees the young man, slightly older than himself, exit the trading post. Aha! Devin planned to purchase some cards himself, but he needed the money for room and board... so instead...

"Hey," he called. The other boy turned, curious. "You a Card Master?"

He had never duelled another Card Master before. He had scared off weak monsters... and healed the sick... but...

"My name's Devin. I'd... like to duel," he said quietly, in explination. His hand strayed to his pouch, his dark brown hair shielding his eyes as he looked down... though they betrayed nothing in any case...

Before I exited the shop I straitened my cloths. Some how they had goten messed up. A young boy about my age came in. I placed my hands on the color of my blue cape. I liked the color such a dark blue that seemed so pure. Oddly though I wore brown pants made of cloth but reinforced with leather.

The man my age started walking to the door and I got it for him. He walked out while I fixed the top of my shirt wich was tied togeather at the caller. I tigthened it sho my shirt wouldn't slide down.

I then walked out and the man infront of me was stoped by a boy who challanged him to a deul. This is an odd sight. 'I'm sorry but I don't play.' He then walked off.

"You know just because the shop sells cards dosen't mean every one who comes out of there uses them." 'Do you use the cards.' "Yes I do. Now I'll be on my way." 'So you don't want to duel then?' "I prefer keeping my talents hidden. I'll tell you what though. I'll flip a coin. If it's heads I'll duel you. If it's tells I'll let you be." I flip the coin into the air.

Devin smiled.

Justin did not see his fist tighten, and the sparks float up...

The coin came down heads.

I had to make sure...

"I've never duelled before," he said quietly. "I want to expand my collection and give my monsters more experience." He smiled up at the other boy. He's probably an inch taller. "My name is Devin. Who are you?"

Even as he asked, he untied the pouch at his front. Snapping his fingers, four random cards floated up from the pouch, and he held them against his chest face down, so he couldn't look at them.

Justin

IC: I closed my eyes as the coin fliped in the air. I felt a small amount of magic power. I may not be much for controling pure magic with out the aid of the cards but I know enough to see when some one else is.

'I've never duelled before, I want to expand my collection and give my monsters more experience.' Never duelled before? This guy seems to almost be conning me. He forces the coin his way and then says he's never dueled before.

I don't bother looking at the coin. "So it's setteled then. We will duel but not here." I walked to where the coin was and picked it up with my eyes still closed. "Come on then, but know I'm not the type to bet my cards."

I open my eyes and reached to where I kept my cards. I don't shuffle my cards unless I duel, against monsteres there is no point to shufle. I pulled out my deckand began to shuffle them with one hand.

I stop some distance out of town. "I limit my fighting to Colliseums and out side of towns. No need to pester the locals is how I feel.

The battle feild was pretty simple. I choose it because of that fact. The green grass here wasn't to long only about half a foot with several bald patches. There where two hills one on the right and one on the left. In the middle was a small stream.

"Now we are ready." Lets see if I can teach him a thing or to.

"Thank you," the young boy said quietly.

"As I am the challenger," he continued, "I believe you take the first action, and I deploy my Soul Card first. Therefore..."

Devin removed a single card from his breast pocket. It was intricately tooled, even more so than normal cards, and emitted a stronger glow than normal cards. Cards glow when in the hands of a Card Master, and when their magic is spent for the day, the glow is subsided. Thus, even Card Masters are limited... by the size of their deck... yet holding huge amounts of Cards that you do not know or trust is dangerous...

"Soul Card, reveal yourself to me!"

In a flash, Devin's costume changed. Sparkling with light, a small half-breastplate of steel armor grew around him, and a sturdy shield appeared in his arm, with a small, glittering sword at his waist. A perfect quartz jewel appeared in the center of his forehead, where his Third Eye would be.

"Paladin! Guard my powers with Light!"

<< Soul Card: Paladin. Light Element. 150 Life. Cover Ability: Once per turn, take damage in stead of a creature. >>

Devin nodded toward Justin. "Sir... it is your turn."

The younger boy smiled. "And you still haven't told me your name..."

I can feel his mistrust. He probably sensed my magic. But I do not understand why he made me flip the coin... is this a custom?

Justin

IC: "Your right I haven't given you my name." I pulled out my soul card wich I had left in the pouch. "I'll be the hunter this time." I quickly transform holding a bow in my hand and wearing leather armor.

I draw four cards. He made a good move for his first deul. He didn't start and I'm not aloud to attack till my second turn. I look at the cards in my hand. Two lil' imps. << they are a 10/10 shadow card with flying and the first attack made against them misses.>> A Flash flood << Water, A rush of watter rushes threw damageing all ground monsters in the way four 20.>> and lastly a Poition of life. <<light, restores 10 life.>>

Well this is probably the best move I can make then. "I play two Lil' imps." The soumuned black feinds take to the air on the bat like wings. Still how scary are they when they are one foot tall.

Devin blinks at his opponent's sarcasm. That's not very nice...

Nodding, Devin finally pulled his four cards away from his chest. Smiling, he recognized old friends.

The Purple Pudding, once of Devin's favorite companions << 20/10, earth type, double damage against water type creature due to acidic pollution >> ...

The Righteous Wrath, the spell Devin likes most... << Spell, light type, deal 30 points of Light damage, double against Shadow >> ...

The Stun Hex, a common card but often helpful << Spell, shadow type, freeze creature for opponent's next turn >> ...

And The Sword of Revealing Light, Devin's greatest item card << Item, light type, add a third of monster's maximum life points to attack >>

Very well. I am glad I got the Sword... now if I can only get...

Hmm. Well, the Imps are weak against my Righteous Wrath. But since they have only ten life points, I wouldn't waste it on them. I might as well jar my opponent's concentration...

"Very well!" he said aloud. "I summon the Purple Pudding! Old friend, return to the land of mortals!"

Waving his card in the air, the glow faded from the card, and an acidic blob morphed from the ground, squelching dangerously.

"And I call upon the magic of Righteous Wrath to strike YOU, the Hunter!"

A blaze of fury rushed from the heavens, slamming into Justin. He felt pain wrack him, but he stood his ground.

<< Justin's life points are reduced from 130 to 100. >>

"I am finished," Devin said quietly.

IC: My imps are likely to last two hits each. They aren't likely to last any longer then that. Being a card with the low life points one hit should finish them. Still if they are attacked by spell or creature they dodge it once. Between the two of them it will take four hits to get rid of them.

I'm the best target. This guy isn't a fool. Prehaps he is a shark trieing to get me to bet card on the match. Well it will do him no good.

"Imp one attack the slime." He dives in with his fist and hitss the slime. There gose his slime. But that dose me he'll get a new card next turn. I pull a card out from my sleeve, the place where I store the four cards in my hand.

"I use a potion of life." The card becomes a vile in my hand and I use it. <<Life is back to 110.>> that means I have three of this card left in my deck.

"Imp two attack the Palidin." the paladin is hit for 10 damge from the imps strong right hook. "And lastly take this from me." I pull the strings back on my bow. An arrow apears in it and as I realse it the arrow flys strait to Devin.

<<Devin is either at 130 or 120 depending on weather he saved his slime.>>

The imp slammed into the Purple Pudding, crushing it with a hard blow... but it remained living. Struggling, it burbled and quivered, but it was still hissing dangerously.

"You forget!" shouted Devin. "My Purple Pudding has 20 life points!" Remain strong, my friend...

<< Purple Pudding is reduced from 20 LP to 10. >>

Grunting, Devin raised his shield and took the hook hard, shuddering under the strike. His arm numb, he was unable to block the arrow, and was struck in the chest. His armor dented slightly, he shook his head and rose to his feet.

<< Devin is reduced from 150 to 130. >>

Shaking his head, Devin snapped his fingers, and two new cards floated up from his pouch. I wonder what new my opponent got in his hand?

Glancing at his new cards, Devin could only smile...

His second Stun Hex, the other of the two he had in his deck, and...

...his ultimate creature...

...the duo was complete.

This is too easy! It's over, now!

"Cosmos, come to me!" he called. "I will summon the Eternal Golem! Greatest ally, come to my aid once more!"

A flash of light, and a small ball of night sky floated from the now-dull card. Growing and pulsating, it fluttered and flashed, and began to expand. Slowly, it took the form of a ten foot tall humanoid being, gittering with stars and darkness.

<< Eternal Golem. Creature, Cosmos type. 60 Life, 25 Attack. Spells do half damage to it. >>

"And now! Prepare yourself! I call upon...

...the Sword of Revealing Light!"

A flashing blaze, and a sword of angelic light grew in the starry Golem's hand.

"And my Eternal Golem's attack is raised by a third of his life points, bringing his attack to 45 points!"

Prepare yourself, friends!

He smiled softly.

"I attack you, the Hunter, with my Purple Pudding! Intercept the blow by sacrificing an imp, or take the ten damage if it pleases you."

He glanced down at his two Stun Hexes...

"...and next turn..."

Next turn, you're finished, man!

OOC: You said 20/10. I had been puting attack first so I thought it had an attack of 220 and life of ten. It's a simple mistake.

IC: "IMP" The little guy rushed in but then dodged the slime. Well that wasted his attack but now that imp is volnerable. I draw my card. I can;'t help but smile at it. Angel wings, what good timeing.

<<Light spell. It give the target flying.>>

"Well my turn for a combo." I flip out the angel wings card. Wings grow on my back and I quickly fly into the air. Good now my flash flood won't hurt me.

I then pull out my Flodd card and toss it at the river. It was glowing blue from my touch. "I hope you can swim." The card touched in the middle of the little stream. Quickly water moved in submerging every thing on the battle feilds terrain.

"Your golem takes 15 damage reduceing it's attack to 40. Also you pudding is dead. As for you, you take 30 damage. Thats 20 from me and ten from your pudding." I hover in the air as the water hits the guy. "You should be happy my imps and I can't hit you till the water gose down at the start of your turn."

OOC: My golem takes 10 damage. Half damage from spells, remember? Also, Sword of Revealing Light deals with maximum hit points, not current hit points. For ease of use, really.

IC:

<< Devin is reduced from 130 to 100. Purple Pudding is defeated. >>

It seemed as though the boy cried out more when the water destroyed his Pudding than when the water blasted against him. Already shuddering from the damage feedback, he collasped against the water's strain and staggered to his feet, sputtering.

Damn it! I don't have any flying creatures! I won't be able to hurt ANY of them! I'm doomed...

Growling in fury, he drew four new cards into his hand, his entire hand having been played in the last turn.

A Spellshatter, an all-purpose spell that is often carried by anyone who can afford the high price... or those lucky enough to forge one themselves << Spell, Shadow type, destroy any Item card >> ...

A Heaven's Rebuke, not quite as powerful as its Righteous counterpart but still helpful. << Spell, Light type, deal 15 damage to any single creature, double damage against Shadow >> ...

A Bone Swordsman << Creature, Shadow type, L30/A10 >> ...

And a Dehydration << Spell, Fire type, damage all creatures in play for 10 life, double to water type >>

Thank you, Card Gods!

Coughing the water from his lungs, Devin rasped, "Aah! I cast, ah, Dehydration! Dispel the water and burn my enemies!" Smoking and popping, both imps disappeared, and though Devin felt the burn himself, he kept on fighting. The water surrounding him quickly fled from the spell.

<< Both Imps are defeated. Devin is reduced from 100 life to 90, and Justin is reduced from 110 life to 100. >>

He smirked. It's over!

"Spellshatter! Cancel the Angel Wings!"

Even as Justin landed safely to the ground, Devin had issued his next command.

"Eternal Golem... attack!"

It did so, quite fluently, slashing painfully with its Sword of Revealing Light.

<< Justin takes 45 damage, and is reduced from 100 life points to 55. Ouch! >>

"And... Bone Swordsman! Assemble from the dust to fight again, my dear ally!"

Bones ripped from the ground, sparkling with magic, and assembled into a surly looking creature, complete with tattered surcoat and a sharpened femur as a sword, with a large animal skull as a shield.

I'll save my Rebuke... perhaps I can surprise him...

"Do what you can, fair opponent!"

Justin

OOC: Thats five cards again. Rebuke, dehydrate, golem, skeleton, shatter. Please keep it to for from now on.

Also I was mistaken on the sword but I did factor in the resestence against magic. He took 15 instead of 30.

IC: I feel back and almost to the floor against the golems furry. Okay this isn't good prehaps I bit off more then I can chew.

My imps are gone and I need to draw four more cards. I reach into my pocket and pull out the next four placeing them on my sleeve. Okay we got stone forest <<Earth,Double damge from earth type creatures. All plants in play are turned to stone. Water deals double it's normal damge to earth creatures in play.>> Well lets hope he dosen't have any water cards. I would be finished from an attack that would normall deal 30.

Next I look at my Red flute <<Fire, Summon any fire creature into play.>> Well normally I'd know who to play this but right now I'm not so shure.

Alright something I can use, I look at the pure arrow <<Light, increase ussers damage by ten>> If I use this and the stone forrest I can do 40 damage.

Now the only problem is holding off that golem. Lets see if my luck holds in this next card. Turning to the card highest up my sleeve. Creature cage? <<Metal, target can not attack or be attacked directly. Breacks apart after 2 turns.>> Well I can use it against that golem but then his skelaten will hit me.

Well lack of a better plan at the moment. "My turn again. I use a creature cage to trap your golem." I toss the cage card at the golem. The card transforms in mid air and a wall of steel bars flys out ensareing the golem.

I stare at the beast. "Holy shit he barely gits in there!" Move! Justin Move! "Next I use stone forrest and Pure arrow!" I flip the forrest in my hand and massive tree come out of the ground there petrifeid barck littering the ground. I feel there power moveing threw me.

I draw my bow and hold it ready. I plare the arrow card in my hand next to the string and a white arrow froms in the bow as the card vanishes. "Bye skeleton, bye" I relase the 40 point arrow. After this turn I need to kill that golem. If he gets out again I'm screwed.

<< Justin is at 55 life. His attack is 40 this turn and 20 the fallowing turns until the stone forest is destroyed.>> <<Devin is at 90 life unless he blocks for the skeliton.>>
