Inevitably, when the cherry trees bloom, we have our last freeze of the year. This morning it was snow.

And, of course, the cherry blossoms were out in it. And they will likely turn brown and drop away as a result.

I went out on the porch with my coffee and the sky was snowing. And the cardinals were sitting in the cherry tree fat as Christmas balls. And behind them the redbuds in full flower. And just beyond them the peach trees threw in some pink.

And likely as not we won’t have fruit salad from our own little world again this year. But that sacrifice was worth it.

It was the cardinals. There is no tree that fat fully fluffed cardinals do not make prettier.

And no time of year that snow can’t turn into a Christmas card.

Good morning, cowboy.

We didn't have any cardinals out this morning, but the blue jays were all over the place. In both apple trees and the cherry tree, sitting on top of the well house, on the younguns' bicycles... All over the place. They were waiting for one of us to go out and refill the feeders.

We don't ever get snow here. Can't say that I miss it, since I've never really had to deal with it, but the picture you painted made me want it, just for a sec.

:)

I know exactly how you feel, bud - being surrounded by nature in all its grand subtleties is a very special reward to those who notice.
