"From the sound of it you were having a good time, he said. "That's why I was playing cards with these guys, you didn't sound in danger."

"I didn't seem in danger, but it was still scary," she said. "He could have beaten me to a pulp during that, and I would have begged for more. . . Its scary. I mean, yeah, it was fun, and I had a good time but. . ." She trailed off, trying to find the words she needed.

"I trusted him to keep you safe during sex," he said. "Sure, we kind of started a brawl after that, but during, you were fine."

"Always, Buttercup," he said. "Let's get on the phone and get this over with. If I'm going to get shot again, I'd rather do it quickly."

Alexis smiled. "Take their guns away," she said as she called Georgia. "Hey, I'm inviting you to your husband's house, for a peace conference."

Nikolai collected the firearms, but had to scowl at the new guy to get his. "Ready to go on this end," he said.

Alexis made her way to the large living room, making sure her gun was showing on her hip. "Frisk her detail when she gets here," she said quietly to him, keeping her eye on Sergei.

"He gave his up," Nikolai said, displaying his own. After a few hours, Georgia and her detail pulled up, including Mikhael. Nikolai got their guns, and when he got to one guy at the rear, Alexis heard him say, "A knife? Really?"

Georgia sat, looking annoyed that she had to disarm. "Why the hell did you have us come all the way out here?" she asked.

"Ease," she said simply. "And because I can hide should both of you want to kill me." She sat Georgia down and sat down in a chair in the middle. "Okay, I'm running out of patience," she mentioned. "I have been tortured, topped, beaten, and shot at and have had Nikolai shot. We are fixing this now. So, why the hell are you two at odds?"

"He abandoned our daughter on a pointless assignment he knew she couldn't do, got her caught and used as a sex slave the first time, sent her again and for all intents and purposes she was dead," she said. "That a good enough reason?"

"I see your point," she said. She looked at Sergei. "Honestly, what did you hope to accomplish by sending Lydia to capture Nikolai and myself?"

"I wanted her to toughen up and become a better field agent," he said. "Everyone has setbacks in this business, and if she didn't try, she would never improve."

"What you accomplished was not that," she said, looking at him. "She was absolutely terrified, and meeting the two of us didn't help matters. I'm sorry, she's not cut out for it. She stands out." She looked at Georgia. "Did you know she was not cut out for the field?"

Alexis nodded. She looked back at Sergei. "Do you fully realize now that Lydia is not cut out for the field?" She asked.

"If she wants to come back, I'll put her back as an analyst," he said. "I wouldn't really blame her for wanting to stay."
