Nikolai relaxed back into Alexis. The ice pack against his head felt refreshing, but the world was still leaning to the side if he tried to sit up. "Thanks for getting me out," he said.

"No problem, Nikolai," Alexis said softly. She gently adjusted the ice pack then stroked his cheek. "How's your head?"

"Pretty bad," Nikolai admitted, feeling a little bad for making Alexis take care of him like this. He wondered if it showed on his face.

Alexis looked sheepish. "Oops," she said, feeling guilty that she put him in this condition.

Removing the ice pack, she gently felt around his skull with expertise. "No fractures, good," she muttered. "It's probably a concussion. We'll try getting you to sit up in a little bit so you can get some fluids in you."

Nikolai propped himself against the wall to keep from falling back over. "Fluids sound lovely,"

"I'll make you some tea," Alexis said, sliding a spare sweater from her suit case underneath his head before getting up. She gently kissed his cheek. "I'll be back."

She went upstairs and put the tea on before quietly coming back down the stairs.

Alexis gently stroked his face and made sure that he was doing alright. Being on the receiving end of concussions before, she was practically an expert.

She bit her lip and looked away, feeling guilty. She knew her roundhouse kicks were the best, and aiming them at his head was cruel. She managed to give someone a skull fracture once with one. Nikolai was lucky with just a concussion.

"No, no, no, no," Alexis assured him, kissing his cheek. "Just feel guilty that I essentially put you out of commission for a few hours. Personal responsibility."

Nikolai finished his tea and handed his cup back to Alexis fir more fluids. "That's good to know, I thought for a minute you were mad at me during the spar."

Alexis shook her head, smiling. "No, that's just how I fight. I always fight like I'm mad. Most opponents I face are your size, and I really don't know how to reign it in."

She got up and went upstairs to refill his tea.

Nikolai stubbornly tried to stand but fell over halfway up. He swore loudly, frustrated at his diminished capacity.

"Nikolai?" Alexis called as she finished filling his tea and grabbing some saltine crackers. "Did you try to stand up?"

She started making her way down the stairs.

"Yes, i did." Nikolai admitted sheepishly. "Will crackers really help me out?" he asked, trying to avoid a scolding.

"They'll help with the nausea," Alexis admitted, making Nikolai lean up against the wall, sliding the sweater back under his head. "Plus they're a carb, so it'll fill you for a little bit. I don't want to put anything too heavy into your system.

She handed him the crackers and the tea. "And you should know better than to try to stand," she gently admonished him, kissing his cheek.

Nikolai began munching on the crackers and sipping his tea. It was good to know Alexis cared about him. He finished the crackers and said, "My stomach really does feel better. How are you going to get me back upstairs though?"

Alexis shrugged. "I'll carry you up the stairs," she said casually. She smoothed his hair back from his eyes and looked at them. "And don't tell me I can't do it."

"The floor is rather hard, something with blankets would be better," Nikolai said, "How do we want to do this?"

Alexis knelt down and picked Nikolai up, cradling him against her body. She swore silently about the weight, but after a few experimental steps, she found her balance and slowly made her way up the stairs.

Arriving at the top of the stairs, she gently placed Nikolai on the bunks and covered him up. "More tea?" she asked softly.

Alexis smiled and went back into the kitchen to make him more tea. Returning with it, she curled up next to him and stroked his hair.
