Whenever I try to post I get this message:

Check query parameters. The should validate field is required.

I have no idea what that means or what, if anything, I am doing wrong.

I've been getting exactly the same problem for the last hour or so and cannot submit my story. I kept thinking I must be missing a field, and have tried in various different browsers. I was just about to post on here to ask if anybody knew what it might mean. I guess there's a bug at present. Very frustrating.

I just had a draft rejected by the mods. So I worked it over and went to resubmit it. I got the stupid response that I already had a story with that title. No, I don't; you fucking rejected it.

So I try to submit the perfected version using a variation of that title. Then I chose to review it to see if all the errors are fixed. Everything looks good, but there's no way I can see to upload it.

The site assures me that my "draft" is on their server, but so what - I want to submit it for approval. WTF?

Submit the new version with exactly the same title plus the word EDIT. That should allow it to pass through to the site editor (Laurel) for review. Add a note to the editor on the submission form with a summary of the changes you've made. I'd also delete the version with the variation of the title - you're just going to end up with multiple drafts.

Also, ranting here is never wise. Laurel wanders through from time to time, and it's not a good idea to badmouth her, since she's the one to keep onside. Just sayin' :).

Thank you for the information. My three take-aways:
1)you're right about my cursing. I apologize,
2)previewing an upload makes it a "draft" that then can NOT be uploaded, and
3)I have 5 fewer characters for my titling use, because I now have to end with " edit"

I'm puzzled by the apparent functioning of the rejection window. It tells me what's wrong with the work I submitted and gives me the submission back in a window that permits edits. But once I believe I have edited it to the moderator's satisfaction, there's no "resubmit" button?

1) Tips for the unwary - it's a community here, and it always pays to be kind (especially if you haven't figured out who the important players are yet).
2) I think you have to save to view the draft, and then cycle through the submission process again - there's only the one submission form SFAIK. Try cutting and pasting your edited content into a new form. I only ever upload a .rtf file, making sure everything is right beforehand (and haven't had a story rejected for years) so I dunno what a rejection page looks like these days - and I don't bother with previewing from the text box.
3) Get it right the first time around, and it ain't a thing! Four characters, actually, just bolt EDIT right at the end. The title field is quite short anyway (35 characters, I think) so after a while you learn to use short titles (and if you're going to make a habit of content breaches or poor grammar, whatever it was, leave yourself space :)).

The main thing, i think, is to submit as if it was the first time, but using your reworked text and the same title. So far as I know, the system doesn't care about the old submission, it wants to see a new one which goes into the queue along with all the other new stories. Be patient, you'll figure it out.
