Alaska dissed us before they became a state too. Not to worry.

Seriously, I ain't looking for a fight today. I just wanna know if our Canadian posters agree and if this is a common Canadian attitude.

That was NOT "our people" - that was the spoiled brat Montrealers - who wish to hold us hostage w/ Separatist BULLSHIT!

Real Canadians DO NOT boo another nation's Anthem! :(

For those shit-loving assholes, I apologize - I believe that you also have a few of those below our Border. ;)

Jimmy baby it has nothing to do with Separatist

bad kitty here people are against the war.

I don't think it's a solid attitude in Canada, but a lot of people all over the world are really not happy with the war and will make that known. I don't think that one hockey game is representative of ALL of Canada though.

I agree with Jimi to a point, sorry. Montrealer's are an entity to themselves.

Personally, I think it is disgusting to boo ANY countries national anthem. Shows complete and utter disrespect.

And no, we're not all like that. Apologies from this end too!

D'accord, chérie!

its just a peace protest i dont see anything wrong with it ... and its a peaceful way to protest

i mean look at the way the french are being respected in america right now ... far worse things then just having their national anthem booed

*giggles*

I just got off the phone with my mother and had to tell her the same thing.

Of course, we are going to Canada tomorrow and the poor dear is afraid that she will have to paste on a plastic smile and take a lot of grief.

I, of course, reassured her that that wouldn't be the case!

Montreal Canadien fans have always seemed a self righteous, fickle lot!

;)

At least those residing in Montreal!

I remember games where they booed their own goalie more than rooting for the rest of the team.

Are you implying that France deserves respect from us?

You OWE your NATION to France! So do not try to get this american high and mighty crap. Without them, You are New Britian STILL.

Not only did their Naval help tip the tide for you, before they sent their ships IT WAS THEM, who funded YOUR revolution. If that doesn't deserve your respect then how can you expect ANYONE In the world to Respect your country.

yes i do ... you gain respect by showing respect to others

That is a very nasty thing to our American Cousins - and they, in Montreal, knew it - it is NOT insignificant, I'm afraid. :(

Not to insult a Pom, or anything....

pssst, that was 230 year ago, and about 60 years ago, the US stopped the german language lessons in Paris.

Don't you think we can call it even and disrespect the French for what they are doing NOW?

Montreal is the largest city in the Province of Quebec, a predominantly French province.

French Canadians refused to go to war for Canada in WW1 and WW2; the Conscription Crisis in WW2 in Quebec was a big deal.

Plus, the NHL was headquartered in Montreal until it was stolen away to NYC decades ago...and the once mighty Montreal Canadiens are out of the playoffs unless the New York Islanders' plane crashes.

So being booed in Montreal is not that big a deal....they're French, dummy! You're lucky they didn't tip over the fuckers' bus.

That being said, there are lots of places in Canada where the US anthem could easily be booed right now.

I doubt it would happen at an NHL or NBA game in Toronto...but it could easily happen most anywhere else.

Reason? The USA said "Terrorism!"....then they said "Weapons of Mass Destruction!"...now it's "Regime Change!"

This war is a Big Lie.

We are a nation of Peacekeepers watching our big neighbor becoming Tyrants & Warmongers, Inc.

My question is: You're actually surprised we'd boo your anthem after what you've done?

Hope this helps you understand our point of view;

Lance

No, You cannot call it even. Stopping an invasion and FORMING YOUR COUNTRY, are completely different things. The United States of America should be puckering and smooching the feet of France at every chance possible. Go eat some "Freedom" fries, which were dubbed french fries by americans for respect.

Well, everyone deserves a modicum of respect, but does that mean I have to applaud their shipment of pesticides to Iraq in February?

For me, personally, I respect people.
I may not have to respect the things they do.

I respect their right to do it.
And expect them to respect my right to think their judgement sucks and act upon that.

And wouldn't France be Germany Minor if not for the US?

Fair is fair, sweet darlin sexy girl!

;)

Well, I cannot hold back...

honest opinions from a DEMOCRATICALLY-minded country that I shall die for, if need be - we LOVE you guys, but do NOT count on us to be your pet Terriers....
