Canadians avoiding travel to the United States and banning American alcohol are among the reasons U.S. President Donald Trump thinks the country is “nasty” to deal with, the U.S. ambassador to Canada said Monday.

Pete Hoekstra told a conference audience on Monday that such steps “don’t send positive signals” about Canada treating the United States well.

But never mind that, have the Epstein files been released yet?
It's unlikely to happen; Li'l Mikey has shut down the government rather than have a vote on Epstein.

I saw that.

The complete lack of self-awareness is stunning. What the heck did Trump think the reaction would be from Canada for a completely unwarranted attack on them??? We had a free ttrade agreement with Canada that HE said was the greatest deal in history. It provided for benefits for both Americans and Canadians. Then he launched his tariff war on Canada, shredding that agreement, then added insult to injury with his "51st state" and annexation threats. and then comes "There are reasons why the president and some of his team referred to Canada as being mean and nasty to deal with, OK, because of some of those steps."

Canadians avoiding travel to the United States and banning American alcohol are among the reasons U.S. President Donald Trump thinks the country is "nasty" to deal with, the U.S. ambassador to Canada said Monday. Pete Hoekstra told a conference audience on Monday that such steps "don't send positive signals" about Canada treating the United States well. Hoekstra was speaking at the annual Pacific NorthWest Economic Region Foundation summit in Bellevue, Washington. The Canadian Press was provided with a recording of the ambassador's comments by the office of B.C. Premier David Eby, which said it received the audio from someone who was in the audience. A statement from a spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy said later Monday that Hoekstra had also expressed "optimism" about the future of the relationship between the two countries during his remarks that lasted nearly an hour. The email said Hoekstra also told the crowd there will be "more opportunity to grow this relationship in a much stronger, in a much bigger way than what we have today."

So what the heck did Trump expect? Canadiana just to roll over and suck it up. Looks like he did. Anyhow, travel and cross-border travel ain't the half of it. Trump and Hoekstra now have far bigger issues than those to fix with Canada. Carney seems to be outplaying them at every turn.

And alcohol, cross-border travel and buying US goods is more of a spontaneous reaction across Canada to Trump. Sad to say, that won't change now for a long time. Another relationship that Trump has badly damaged, and I serioys;y doubt he even has the self-wareness to acknowledge that this is something he, and he alone, is responsible for.

“Canadians staying home, that’s their business, you know. I don’t like it, but if that’s what they want to do, it’s fine. They want to ban American alcohol. That’s fine,” he said.

“There are reasons why the president and some of his team referred to Canada as being mean and nasty to deal with, OK, because of some of those steps.”

Ambassador Goober thinks Canada is “mean and nasty” because it responded to Trump’s unprovoked trade war. 😆 Is everyone in this administration a petulant man-baby?

Sounds like someone doesn't like the Canadian people.

One suspects Canadians are now aware ofthis. And Pierre shure wasn't too happy about Ttump backstabbing him the way he did, and then gloating over it.

Nope, Trump has severed that relationship well and truly when even Canadian conservatives won't buy US products..
