Canada's Role in the new world Order

Seeing as the world keeps gettign into trouble, the Us come in and bitch slaps the agressors and leave then Canada come in and cleans the mess up.

I think its high time Canada wasgiven the official of World boy scout and given the role of helping to tidy up other peoples mess. Agree?

I think you are alotting Canada more credit than it merits. The country has been an extremely helpful player in world crises but by no means a saviour.

Perhaps Canada should begin with its economy, health care system and its relationship to Quebec?

This coming from a Vermonter who frequently visits Canada and has many friends there.

I dont think the image of Canada cleaning up after the US is fitting.

The quebec problem is a quebec created thing. Canada has given them much but they want more. They wont leave but are like a noisy kid who thinks if they yell they will get what they want.


As for the cleaning up canada has shown many time even with its problems it is more than capable of helping out!

We will either be used as target practice as a show of power {this being as we basically have nothing to defend ourselves]

option 2 seems to be what the french did with the Nazis in WW2.

I agree, Canada has shown an ability to assist in many problems. They rarely get the credit they deserve for naval actions in WW2.

I'm just takeing issue with the degree of praise you are lavishing on Canada.

I know Quebecers can be a pain in the ass. In fact often out right hostile, but it is a significant problem to Canada's long term focus. The cities of Montreal and Quebec City are probably the most European in North America, their role in Canadian and continental affairs shouldnt be minimized by interpoliticing.

One thing Canada should be commended on is not seeking the spotlight. They dont do a dance and demand "thank yous" like certain countries seem to enjoy doing.

Besides, we already stole all your hockey teams.

I praise Canada cause since it is home someone has to. If people from other parts of the world can talk about how great they are why cant Canada.

As for the Quebec there is onyl so much we can do. WE give and give and they ask for more. So far they havent done much. More and more poll show people in quebec dont want to leave Canada now. they want t bigger say in how Canada is governed and want their interests put first.

I hear what you are saying Pheonyx. I took issue with the tone of your original post. I really cannot take issue with your sentiments, I have no objection to them.

I think Quebec has weighed its options and realized it needs to be a more civicly minded province.

I didnt mean Canada was cleaning up after teh Us. I was thinking about the situation in Afghanistan right now when I wrote that and I put in the US. IT was in the News that Canada has been asked to send troops for a peace keeping force thats why it was on my mind.

I wish this very thread could be set as one example of a discussion without calling each other foolish names and leaving in disgust. Of course I still have an urge to insult Todd's av, but I am fighting it.
