anon's after the story has been up for awhile? It appears I have a new asshole trailing me. I'm sure he's doing it just the way people here have mentioned, from a public source. For the last couple of weeks he has dogged everyone one of my stories leaving such intelligent remarks as, "crap, 1*." I'm sure it's the same guy over and over because of the similar pattern.

He has systematically brought down the scores of almost every story as well. I'm thinking of turning the voting off but I'd also like to turn this guy off. I don't see away of doing that other than turning comments off all together.

I thought you could just turn off anonymous comments, am I wrong on that?

Okay, I just went to my author's page. It looks like if you do that, then click Main, then click Options, you can turn off anonymous feedback. It seems it would disable both anonymous comments as well as anonymous email feedback.

One option is "Accept Anonymous Feedback," and under that it says: If you choose "NO" to the above option, unregistered users will not be able to comment on your submissions, and users will be forced to give an email address when contacting you via your profile and/or submissions. Accepting anonymous feedback greatly increases the amount of feedback you will get on submissions, because many readers choose not to register for the site.

Regardless of whether you can retroactively turn off all anonymous comments, I don't see why, in the case you give, you don't just delete that dude's comments (or any you don't like). You can do that retroactively anytime you want--from your "Views" menu of your submissions page.

If you suspect malicious voting, might want to ask Laurel to run a sweep on your stories. Use the "Report Story" button on one of the affected stories and in the comments field mention that you're seeing suspicious voting patterns and would like a sweep on all your stories.

Because I'm getting tired of it...

Every day, every one of my stories has a similar comment. It's always 2 or 3 words followed by 1*.
"Mindless dribble, 1*"
"Mindless crap, 1*"
"Total bull shit, 1*"

Every day, every story. It's getting tiring. Even though I delete them daily, I think he get's off just posting it. So, I want to fix it so he can't post on my stories anymore. I realize it will also prevent others from posting anonymously.

It takes "him" (no saying it's a him) longer to post it than it takes you to delete it. I'm of the belief that, over time, the poster will get tired of posting comments that get deleted and just slam the rating (which they already are doing and which is a whole other story. I think they can happily do this for years without redress--and can get an added "high" if their victim complains about it on the forum). It's the ratings issue that you might bring the already-very-busy Laurel in on.

I know where you are coming from; I also have a stalker who constantly comments on all my remarks or threads. I know my stalker, his name is "Drunkz" and he, oh, wait a minute, I think it is "drinkz", yeah that's it. He is quite childish about his remarks, he quotes all my fetishes every time I post a remark, my mother in law fetish, my panty fetish, my cum food fetish, my pussy licking fetish, why he does this is to get me upset, but I feel bad for him because he has nothing better to be doing than stalking me. I think he really has a thing for me, and can not let go, :).

And now, if "he" reads the forum, he knows "he's" got your goat.

This is a hurtful troll, not a spammer. Deleting the comment is not a setback for them at all. In fact, seeing their comment is deleted just proves that you have looked at it and didn't like it.

Exactly which is why my theory is leave it there.

To me that shows I, as the author am saying, yeah, so?

In fact many times if you leave it there other people will comment on the troll and insult them.

I never remove them and can't say that I have seen the same one came back to the same story. I think deleting it empowers them.

I know these threads empower them, but also know that people need to vent.

The majority of feedback and comments here is positive and that is how I look at it and I'll take the bad with the good.

I don't agree. Having you feel guilty about erasing the comments gives them more feeling of control, I believe, than just erasing the comments will. That's what I see in all the argumentation of not erasing such comments and leaving them to fester--to me it's a signal that they control you totally.

It doesn't make you feel better or keep folks from complaining about the comments here, now does it?

Well, you do look like you're about to fall into that Martini glass.

Lovercraft, if it were just a few it would be no problem, but...

I have 16 stories. Every one gets one of these comments every day. That's 112 such comments per week. It gets a little much. Why this idiot actually takes the time and effort every day, I have no idea, but after two weeks, I'm simply getting sick of it.

If I turn off anonymous comments now, will that delete all the ones I've received so far or just future?

Just the future ones, the ones currently there you have to manually delete.

Oh go back to whining about how no one likes your stories, that's what you do best. This troll hasn't even published a story. He's always starting shit and then whining to the moderator when he loses the shit he started.

I'd rather tell you how cute you are. :D

As I posted already, it takes less effort for you just to erase the comments and forget them than it takes someone to work up the hate and effort to post them. Then they are just gone. When you don't just erase them and forget them, he owns you.

I don't know the answer to your question--and don't think it's particularly relevant to your problem anyway.

Okay. You can stick up for the troll. But when he jizzes in your mother in law's milk without her knowing, don't say I didn't warn you. :D He brags about doing that sort of thing.

I've only responded to your posting behavior.

See, laptopwriter, you can just cover them with "don't care" Jell-O.

Don't you think calling me "Drunkz" is a bit childish? I feel bad for those people that you've jizzed in their food without their knowledge. Where I live you could be charged with assault for such a scummy thing.
Oh there you go again Drunkz, you are even stalking me on this guys site, HA! You really are a stalker, your not to bright, so I will put up with you, I figure you have no other friend's so you want me for a friend! Again, I feel so sorry for you, but if you need friend's I'll be one you poor pathetic thing!
