First story that I remember having read to me - and remember asking for again and again - was "The Tale of Br'er Rabbit." My mom would invent voices for the characters.

("Please, please don't throw me in that briar patch," is the first punchline I ever learned. )

First story I read on my own? That, I can't remember. Probably something to do with Donald Duck.

First Lit story I read: "Hard Boiled Dick," by Dr. Mabeuse. Chosen at random, by the name. Matt Danger rules.

No, I had the post-revolutionary black market edition. Raskolnikov looked like Mick Jagger.

hey, you should know by now... I like "rough". :D

That goes for men's voices, too.

Far better than high pitched and squeeky. ;)

PS I do remember being read to. Lying in bed, with the summer sun still lighting the street outside, and the sound of other kids still playing out. I didn't mind that. I was in bed, being read to... :)

Well, can I remember THAT far back? Hm. The first story I read in school was 'Mr. Muggs', an updated version of the Dick and Jane series. Though strangely, I think it started out something like "See Dick," which is no doubt very influencial in my current writing.

The first story I actually read outside of school? All I remember is "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly. I don't know why she swollowed a fly. I think she'll die." Being amused by this at the age of five is probably very telling.

The first erotic story I ever wrote is not posted on Lit, and the first story I read here was the only one posted by Lauren . . . so far.

As for my own name? I am having trouble deciphering whether it is bitch or asshole
