Lemme see.....
Don't really know Creed, so I leave that to someone else.

Smashing Pumpkins - started as Rock band and still is to some extend. Though they do dabble with Trip Rock sometimes.

Never heard of 10.000 maniacs.

Billy Ray Cyrus = Pop/country, I'd have to say.

10,000 Maniacs was a classic example of the early 90s grung (alternative). :)

Creed, I think is the "modern" version of alternative.

Smashing Pumpkins, early 90s alternative too, with a kinda hard rock edge to it.

Billy Ray, Pop/country.

Any others Todd? Quiz me! lol

<Bowing> Thank you thank you! lol Seeing as how I was in HS for the early 90s, I "grew up" to the music Todd asked about. :)

I used to have my CD collection in alphabetical order + having them in categories, and the categoris were in alpha order too. And, my Billboards CDs were in numerical order. I had ALL of the 80s, all of the 70s, and around half of the 60s. Hey, are the 90s Billboards out yet???? :D

Thansk y'all for the input i been listening to them on the states radio Q-96.1, and they didnt seem to be like the rest

Creed...Mostly hard rock with a pop edge, that song pop pop pop ballad....No sir! I don't like it!

Smashing Pumpkins...90's Talking Heads...with distortion.

10,000 Maniacs....The average number of "Dawg Pound" denizens in Cleveland for a late December game..
No really....pop alternative...

Billy Ray Cyrus...Achy Breaky Heart....DRIVEL!!!!ARRGH

Ahh, what the hell. Call it all Alternative. (Except Billy Ray - where'd that come from??) I figure alternative covers just about everything these days. It's really been a bullshit category for the past decade, hasn't it? Cuz these days, Alternative music isn't.

I like Savage Garden.....What is up with billy ray!!!

Garth Brooks is the best of course...and Reba!!!!!!

My weak attempt at categorizing

Creed: A fuzzed up attempt to disguise late 70s powerpop/ballad drivel (think Foreigner/Journey) as somehow progressive

Smashing Pumpkins: College Alternative, provided your thought of college is all teen angst and self-loathing

10,000 Maniacs: Agitpop, bubble gum sweet folk/pop with some really smart lyrics. "What's the matter here?" and "Candy Everybody Wants" are amazingly pointed social commentary.

Billy Ray Cyrus: Country for the folks that think of Cracker Barrel restaurants as evoking true rural images.

I can't understand why I don't get a job in A&R
