Can you call the slave trade "immigration"?

It seems weird to me to equivocate slaves with immigrants. To me they actually seem to be the antithesis of one another and any attempt to rationally discuss them in the same context is just really strange. At least in the context of American Slavery as I understand it it makes no sense.

Or is it just me? Am I just in the bubble, off my rocker, .... ?

It's just you. Obama called it "Immigration of sorts" himself.

Nah. You're all good. Ben's just cooning for the Agent Orange regime and getting that solid paycheck. ;)

Link or bullshit. Maybe your internet has special powers that others' don't.

I'm sure he would never say that with his tongue out of his cheek.

If it's his exact words, then it should've been an immediate Google hit and nothing even mentions his name on the first page. Didn't bother wasting time searching further.

Shit talkers gonna talk shit, after all. :D

Did Obama also say that those slaves "had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land."?

That's great then, since everything Obama said or did is OK.

Here's what Obama said;

"Certainly, it wasn’t easy for those of African heritage who had not come here voluntarily and yet in their own way were immigrants themselves. There was discrimination and hardship and poverty. But, like you, they no doubt found inspiration in all those who had come before them. And they were able to muster faith that, here in America, they might build a better life and give their children something more."

Here's what Carson said:

"That’s what America is about, a land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-granddaughters, might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land."

Virtually the same sentiments just expressed in different words.

Fuck you morons.

I think made all the morons go away....

Should have let them drone on more.

They only dreamed of that when they dreamed of emancipation. It certainly was not in their heads when they were herded onto the ships. Not that what was in their heads would have made any difference.

Just when I think you made it so I can not laugh at them more they prove me wrong.

Fucking Awesome!!!:D

It is, pathetic, but awesome none the less.

If a person of color expresses a sentiment that leans rightward, or is a known conservative makes a statement of any sort the gang of liberal racists are all over them like stink on shit. They don't argue the merits or demerits of what was said, they merely belittle the individual.

I've watched this over the years and it matters not if those individuals are public figures or posters on this board.

They don't seem to understand that what they are saying is, "As a person of color you are incapable of independent thought and analysis. You must toe the party line no matter what." And the "Party Line" is laid down by a bunch of old white democrats, obviously intent on keeping those uppity coloreds on the plantation.

You idiots would spike the ball after fumbling it, and walk like an Egyptian, too.

How I am glad I no longer play for your team. Thank you for showing me that further. free at last, thank God, free at last.

You don't get it, and I doubt you ever will.
