Can someone help me?

My story has been pending for over 5 days, can someone please tell me if this is normal to take this long?
It's not uncommon. Pending times have increased this year, probably because more stories are being submitted than in the past. Ten to fourteen days is no longer very unusual.

I'm a relatively new author and it took about 5 days for my first story to post. .However, my second submission took a few weeks. My only advice other than staying patient is to avoid going back into your story while it's in pending becsuse you'll feel compelled to make changes ... and if you change anything, you'll be out to the back of the line

Another bit I'll add, and this is just my personal experience...

If your story was sent back for bad formatting, dialog, grammar, etc. Then after you fix all the problems and resubmit the story to try again, it seems to take longer then the stories that get approved on the first try.

I don't know if it's true for everyone. But that's what happens to me. So if you had the story sent back once before and you've resubmitted it, just gotta be extra patient. There's no sort of 'skip the line' tricks as far as I know.

I reckon Laurel keeps notes on rejections, also content compliance. It's a logical thing to do, and explains why most prolific writers rarely if ever get delays. Or if we do, we don't bother posting here, because a) we know what's typical; and b) we know what to do.
