If you've ever seen the show Sliders, you've probably figured this all out, calling it cliche, however the many worlds theory (every point in time has an optional choice) plus Stephen Hawking's wormhole theory might actually be science fact rather than science fiction.
PM me to help me on a one on one basis (story includes mutated youth of unknown age).
Out Of Phase - Multiverse Leapers
Ch1 Enter The Wormhole (sci-fi/fantasy)
Ch2 Time Shifting (mind control)
Ch3 The Naked Truth (sci-fi/fantasy)
Ch4 Worlds Domination (sci-fi/fantasy)
This story was inspired by a real particle accelerator in Switzerland.
They have a working theory now (as apposed to being plausible in theory), and another machine ("Contact" style) will be built by the next century.
As for time travel, a black hole (rather than a wormhole) may be possible for that, however it would be like "2001 A Space Odyssey", where you are wiped out of existence the further you go in.
Gravity can help with a time travel viewer (like the Hubble Telescope) and multiple light streams that cross each other's paths may be able to carry a "little person" to a previous time (Einstein's discarded theory).
Einstein also said you would eventually meet yourself, so the time traveler can't interact with anything or anyone else or he or she would alter the present.
Like looking through the flames of a fire, your image would be distorted in the lights, and could look like you are morphing into a melted version of yourself... if you could see anything in the first place.
