We know it was already unpopular, considering the mass protests after last year's elections. Using the country as a staging-ground for Russia's invasion of Ukraine can't help matters any -- what do the Belarusian people care about Russia's claims on Ukraine?

Russians, on the other hand...
Many of them are against the war, but there is a chunk on them who still believe in the Empire.
They are apalled of course by the carnage, but they wouldn't mind seeing Ukraine under Russia.
