As far as I know, at least the last bit of literature I read on babies inside the mother, anything that the mother is capable of hearing the baby can hear as well.
'They' have done tests where a small mic was inserted into the mothers vagina as far as it could reach and they started recording.
EVERYTHING going on in the room, everything in the hall of the hospital room, you could hear just as clear as day.
