There are 2 basic schools of thought on this board.

1) People come here to have fun. To escape, to get attention, that it's all make believe- so don't take any of it seriously. Anything we do is really OK, because it's totally harmless fun.

2) That LIT General Board is a community . That there are real lives, thoughts, feelings & people behind the identities; that we are real to the extent that we do reveal ourselves. That we can both help & hurt each other here.

It's hard to have it both ways.

I don't know who Latina is, I don't know anything about her, and you're comparing me to her, perhaps because you can see a similarity. Why shouldn't anyone post about their love/sex lives? Why shouldn't I talk about what I love, and what makes me happy? Why shouldn't I ask questions about things that concern me?

Thank you for insulting my writing. Have to tell you, I've gotten A's in all my English classes, and never had any really bad comments about my style. What I write here is stream of consciousness. I am not overly worried with punctuation, etc. I write from the heart often, and I understand that you don't understand that, being as though yours seems to be made of stone.

When I write romance or erotica on here, I just write. I feel what I write, and it flows from me. Have you wondered why I don't submit stories? I'm perfectly aware that I would be unable to do it, because I can't gather myself enough to write erotica that's punctuated well and that has that much thought in it. I write fantasy.

But if you pissed someone off two years ago, and have been flogged for it over and over for 2 years, as KillerMuffin said, when is it enough? As for trying to be "real" I got slammed for that, too, like when I posted my real opinions about current events two years ago. So the board doesn't want a one-dmensional person who can only talk sex, but also doesn't want a real person with real political opinions either! I suspect that KillerMuffin only meant that I have more experience in life and in writing. But keep writing what you feel and don't let the comparison bother you. Everyone writes differently, it is unfair to compare one writer to another, and especially when there is such a difference in age and experience. It makes me think of the Oscars: why do two actors give amazing screen performances, one gets an award for it and the other doesn't? It doesn't mean anything! I'm sure your writing is fine, and by the time YOU are 52, maybe you'll be much better at it than I am at 52 now.

VS, you were an example, nothing else. This thread isn't about you, though you certainly are welcome to play the martyr and make it so.

However, I do believe you should have an explanation:

The reason Latina writes better is because you write in second person when you get all let's-be-sexy in your posts. Second person is the worst. Latina writes in first person, which is a better POV.

Second person is something that's entirely too difficult to write well in. I've seen maybe five out of hundreds that were good. The rest all blend into an assemblage of thoughtlessness on the writer's part. There are those who can write it well, but they are few, far between, and they generally aren't found in a porn site. The rest really should stick with first person if it's more comfortable, third if it's not, because then they find themselves more accessible to the average reader. Half or your audience doesn't have the proper, er, plumbing. The other half of the audience that does, well, some of them aren't interested in vaginas. "You" will comfortably match an extremely small portion of your audience.

Now, should you care? Only if you want to. Post whatever you choose here. The corollary to that is when you post your little vignettes in second person, I'm entitled think and express that Latina is a better writer than you because she posts her vignettes in first person. Writing from the heart and the very tired stream of conciousness excuse does not innure you from anything less than accolades to your avatar when you post for public consumption.

I didn't say you were a "bad" writer. You assumed that all on your own. Nice of you to insult the hell out of Latina, though. Perhaps you should look for cows and concrete conscience in the mirror.
