Hey there!!

I was just wondering.. the average wait lately has been about 3 weeks as far as waiting for volunteer editors to review my stories and stuff.

I am not trying to sound impatient by any means and know that I am not the best writer, but it is a bit discouraging when you work hard at something and then wait close to a month to even get someone's opinion on it (and then another month for more opinions... no offense meant to laurel of course).

Anyway this is in NO WAY a personal attack on ANYONE that has edited any of my stories thus far, I was just really hoping to find a not-as-busy editor that's all.

Thanks!

How many of the editors have you emailed? Some of them have emailed me asking why no authors have contacted them. You may want to look around on the list and send out introductory letters to several of them and see who is available and who is not. There seem to be a handful of editors that are contacted because they're familiar to people on the board, leaving many very good editors with their thumbs twiddling simply because they don't post. Look around, read the descriptions, and send out emails to several of them at once. If certain editors never get back to you at all, please let me know.

Hi, Jade; I just sent you an email offering to be your editor, so if intested just contact me -- Tinman. Two, three days at most.

Not all editors take that long. First I prioritize if I receive more than one request. I generally take upto but no more than 3 days for an average story. If it's a longer one it may take longer. I always let an author know how long it will take for me to do editing.

I always respond to any request. I have yet to turn down an author as well. I explain how I edit and am always willing to find a different way if it doesn't work.

I'm sorry to hear you've had such a hard time getting editing done quickly. Please feel free to send me any story any time.

This is one of the best things I've done in awhile. I truly enjoy editing these stories and hope I continue to receive requests.

Quite frankly, if the story (with action, dialogue and description)is sent as one looooooooooooooooooooooong
paragraph, it takes a heckuva long time to edit than if there are breaks in the right places. Otherwise, the editing will take a loooooooooooooong time because we have to go through and try to figure out where the new paragraphs start, which dialogue belongs to which character, which description needs to relate to which action. One long paragraph of some 200 lines is a lot harder to read and edit than 10 paragraphs on 5 to 20 lines apiece. In general, any time a new piece of action starts, or a different character speaks, begin with a new paragraph.
It makes an editor's job that much easier and your waiting time will be that much shorter. :)
