Hi :)

I was wondering if there was a way for people to see your cam without having to go onto msn/windows live messenger? I have deleted that and don't really want to put it back on and I'm afraid I know very little about computers so my question might seem a bit silly. Sorry. :)

Same difference I guess? What if you don't want to use an online messenger program?

I don't believe that there is anyway to share the cam... I know you can record and then post the vid but you can not stream a live vid without any type of online app. There is SKYPE but again it is anther online app.

A web cam needs three things to work -
1. Appropriate, uptodated drivers
2. An Internet Connection
3. And a Peer to Peer (p2p) server connection.

You won't find the 3rd unless you sign into a service (MSN, Yahoo, Eyeball, Skype, etc).

While this is true to achieve a relatively automated process, you don't need any of those 'p2p' services if you are willing to do a little more work. Windows Media Player (WMP) is a program that can view streams created with Windows Media Encoder (WME). WMP/WME are programs that ship with both Win2K and WinXP (you may have to download WME for Win2K). WME can stream video from your computer, but to the best of my knowledge you need to have WMP to view it. I have not tried using QuickTime as a viewer.

There is less automation than with the P2P programs, and it's a one way street. Your audience can not communicate back to you without a chat program. You have to futz with the quality and size settings yourself, and you have to know how to find your IP address. Once you are 'broadcasting' your stream, you just need to tell the folks using WMP clients how to reach you. The lightweight (free) version of WME can accept up to 10 clients, if memory serves, so if you have the bandwidth you can have several people perving over you at the same time.

I hope that helps.

Edited to add that you may have to punch a hole through your firewall, port forward, use a DMZ host, etc. That's another thing the p2p software works around automagically.

I think yahoo works best.

Paltalk is great online site where most people cam.

It is free for you to turn on your cam and let the world view you but if you want to view others (in the adult rooms) they will charge you.

Even the fastest viewing speed is relatively inexpensive but if I remember correctly they have 3 different viewing speeds.

If you are wanting to stream to a website, then you simply have to get the code for it and the porgram to run the cam all the time. I'm think that is what you want so you can have it running all the time and get yourself off. Why would anyone want to do that on this forum besides that reason.

There was a woman who had her house on cams which you could view her website and see her throughout the day. You may want to look into that and research what she used.
