I laugh. "Nah, he just wants to see what you wanted." I give a saucy smile before returning to work.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

A while later, the crowd is beginning to thin out and I approach you at the stand. "You look tired baby," I say. "You doing okay?" I kiss your temple as you roll silverware.

 

[celestialdragon]

"Yeah," I say, a tired note in my voice. "I'm probably going to crash when we get home." I look up at you and blush as I see the two growing hickeys. "So. . . What did Don say?" I ask, returning to my silverware.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I act like he said nothing about my new warpaint. "He said he fired Riley," I tell you, clearly lying.

 

[celestialdragon]

"Bullshit," I tease. "I know he said something. Now tell," I giggle, poking you in the ribs playfully.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I sigh and roll my eyes. "He asked if I had tried to hang myself and told me that he could recommend someone I could talk to. Then he asked me if I got these during recess, under the slide. THEN he asked if I wanted to borrow his turtleneck." My eyes get wide as I say, "So thanks for that."

 

[celestialdragon]

I blush and hide my face. "Sorry," I say meekly.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

"Eh, it's fine. I've been giving him shit because Stacie is huge and he's not getting any," I say, completely ignorant to being insensitive. "These will go away, but he's still got 4 more months of her blimping up."

 

[celestialdragon]

"Reece Grier!" I say, shocked, hitting you lightly. "Be nice, I'm going to be like that soon, are you going to be saying shit like that?" I give you an appraising look as I continue to roll silverware.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

"Oh, yeah....I am SO sorry, baby," I say. "You're beautiful. I'll still want to love on you when you blimp up," I say, once again talking before thinking.

 

[celestialdragon]

I hit you again. "Keep it up, baby, and you might not get any in the morning," I inform you. "Please think before you speak, honey, stuff like that really hurts."

 

[CarnivalBarker]

"I'm sorry," I say. "I didn't mean you'd be fat, you know.....I just meant," I see you give me a look. "I need to go close down the kitchen," I say. "Okay?" I kiss your temple again before beating a hasty retreat.

I give a slight chuckle as you head off towards the kitchen and continue rolling the silverware and I clean off the top of the bar, avoiding that area still. I pull on a sweatshirt and wander over to where a microphone was. Looking at it, I decided to surprise you a little bit. Clearing my voice a little bit, I begin to softly sing into it.

I come out from the kitchen hearing someone singing with no backup band or music. I see you when I arrive and pause, crossing my arms, and tilting my head listening. I smile, so proud of you. Amazed. Don comes out behind me and asks what's going on and I just motion to the stage where he sees you and smiles as well. When you are done, I am the first one of the remaining employees and thin crowd to begin clapping, slowly at first and then faster. I walk up clapping and hold my arms out from below the stage so that I can catch you as you step down to the main pit level. I wrap you in a hug and tell you simply, "Thank you, baby. I loved it."

I am blushing furiously, and crying a little bit. It was one of my favorite songs, but I never really had the chance to sing it until now. I was glad you liked it. "You're welcome baby," I whisper.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I kiss you then pull back to look at you. "Why the tears, baby?" I ask, wiping them away.

 

[celestialdragon]

"Just. . . so happy," I whisper softly, unable to stop the slow, steady flow of tears.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I pat your butt. "You wanna go into the office while I finish up?" I ask. "I won't be long and we can go home and relax in the sauna."

 

[celestialdragon]

"Yeah," I say, kissing your cheek. I go over into the managers' office where I curl up on the couch and fall into a light sleep.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I wake you up about an hour later with a light rub of your shoulder, and you hear Don tease you, saying, "Ew, how can you sleep on that couch? You don't know who,all has had sex on it today," as he turns in his kitchen and lock up keys in the office.

I roll my eyes and stick my tongue out at him, before ducking underneath your arm and smiling.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I kiss your forehead. "Ready to go home, Miss Sleepy?" I ask you.

 

[celestialdragon]

"Mmm, yes," I say, smiling. "Let's go home, love."

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I walk you home and ask how you are feeling when we get there. I kiss you once as we get inside and spank your butt as you start up the stairs. "No sauna tonight, baby?" I ask.

 

[celestialdragon]

"Not unless you want me to fall asleep in it, baby," I say, even more tired now. I look at you sleepily and stroke your neck almost lazily. "This is a good look for you, baby."
