"Cool," I say, almost sleepily. "Come back to sleep. . . I don't even know why the alarm was set. . ." I curl up underneath of you.

I wake up in a cold sweat, shivering and shaking as though cold. I check the thermostat, it's set at a decent temperature. I silently get out of bed and turn the fireplace on and sit in front of it for a moment, trying to warm my body back up. I curl back up in bed with you, creating a cocoon around us.

I playfully hit your arm, but it's weak. "No, stay here with me. Unless you can please make me some peppermint tea," I ask.

I get up with a laugh and pull on my shorts and a sweatshirt. "Princess needs her tea," I say. "Be right back."

I come back a few minutes later and hand you a steaming cup of tea. "If you give me the plague, I won't be happy, sicko," I say, getting back into bed.

"Don't be silly; I don't have the plague," I tell you, sipping my tea after sitting up. "It's just a little fever; it'll be gone in a few hours." I was a little resentful at the moment, even though I knew you were just teasing.

"Ok, well vomit on the other side of the bed if you have to," I say as I curl up to sleep and leave you to your tea.

I roll my eyes and finish my tea, reading while I did so. I did feel better, warmer after I finished drinking it, so I set my book down, took the tea downstairs and rinsed out the cup, came back upstairs, turned down the fireplace, and crawled back into bed and fell asleep.
