"That's fantastic, I'm so happy for her!" I say, beaming broadly. My burger comes out and I begin eating it, smiling happily.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I come back by and look at your food, then at Don. "Seriously?" I ask.

 

[celestialdragon]

"I'm hungry, baby," I say. My burger's already half gone, and Don just shrugs. "Where's my meds, baby?" I ask.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

"In the car," I tell you. "I'll go get them."

 

[celestialdragon]

"Thank you, sweetie," I say sweetly and go back to demolishing my burger, giving a giggle when I see Don shaking his head.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I come back with two bottles. "Pain, or antibiotics?"

 

[celestialdragon]

"Might as well take both," I say, swiping the pills and taking them. "Ahh. . ." I say, making a face like I normally do. "Drugs. . ."

 

[CarnivalBarker]

"Don, we are gonna have to leave in an hour or so, can you close?" He says he can and I tell you I am going to gather up the bank drop before we go.

 

[celestialdragon]

"That's fine," I say, sipping my ginger ale and starting on my fries. "I'm not moving anywhere anytime soon, baby."

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I cut Riley for the night and she comes to the bar station to clock out. "It was good to see you Lynn," she says in a soft voice. "I'm glad you're doing well." She forces a genuine, if not super enthusiastic smile your way. "I'm sorry about all of this."

 

[celestialdragon]

"Riley," I say just as softly, offering one of my own warm smiles. "It isn't your fault, you didn't know this was going to happen. You were brave and did the right thing; I just walked into it blindly, but it's not your fault, and blaming yourself isn't going to help, alright? It was great to see you too."

 

[CarnivalBarker]

She gives a wan smile and pulls on her coat, cinching it tight as if protecting herself from more than the cold and walks off telling you and Don goodnight.

I look over at you with a sad expression on my face, feeling for Riley. "Ready, dear?" I ask.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

"Yeah, babe," I am. Unaware of your chat with Riley, I see your face and ask, "Something wrong? Is your hand sore?"

 

[celestialdragon]

"No. . . just really feeling for Riley right now. . ." I explain. I tell you what she had said, and what I told her. "She just looks so sad right now, baby."

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I nod, not knowing what else to say or do.

 

[celestialdragon]

"Let's go," I tell you, starting to feel sleepy. "I wanna cuddle with my baby."

 

[CarnivalBarker]

"Sounds good," I smile. "Do we need to stop at McDonald's first?" I tease, patting your hip as I kiss your neck.

 

[celestialdragon]

I shake my head. "No, I'm good," I tell you, relaxing into you. "I just want cuddles"

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I brush your hair from your eyes. "You're sleepy aren't you?"

 

[celestialdragon]

"No," I protest, but I am. I give a small yawn.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

"Let's go home, Yawns," I smile.

 

[celestialdragon]

"Mmmkay," I say with a quiet giggle. We get to the car and I lean the seat back, turning the heater on. "mmm heat," I say.

 

[CarnivalBarker]

I look at you reclined in the seat and you look so cute. "Are you gonna stay awake when we get home?"

 

[celestialdragon]

"Don't know," I say softly, curled up while looking at you as we drive.
