Camel Roams Sweden Road During Snowstorm

Mon Feb 2,10:01 AM ET

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - It took some convincing before police would respond to reports of a camel on a southern Sweden road in the middle of a snowstorm.

"We were somewhat doubtful at first," said police spokesman Sten-Ove Fransson in Skoevde, 162 miles south of Stockholm, of Friday's incident. "But then more people called, so we were finally convinced that there really was a camel gone astray on the road."

Before police arrived, friends of the camel's owner came and led it back to a stable, where it has been kept while awaiting a home in a new barn.

Owner Anneli Arvidsson said in a telephone interview that the 22-year-old Siberian camel, Emat, might have wandered off because of the absence of his usual companion, a horse.

"On Friday, the horse had been taken inside the stable and the camel was left alone in the pasture, which probably made him feel lonely," she said.

I'm amazed that an experienced camel owner would leave the animal without its horse during a snowstorm.

That's Camel Care 101, people.

I was wondering why they brought the horse into the stable during the storm but left the damn camel out in the pasture.

I told my sister not to leave him out in the pasture, but did she listen? Nooooooo..!

Imagine -25 degrees centigrade. Imagine that you've forgoten your mittens. Imagine that you stick your hands in that long, fluffy fur on his neck.

It's like they say up in the north of Sweden: "The only time you feel really good is when you've thrown your back out, and have to stand against a hot wood stove."

Svenskaflicka, considering the alleged rate of animal sexual abuse in Sweden, I would be careful how you phrase your praise of hot camels.

:D

He is a sexy beast, though, isn't he?

I said NECK! His NECK! "Stick your hands in that long, fluffy fur on his neck"!!!

Sexy?

Not really. But those legs reminds me of a guy I went to school with. He was so hairy, you couldn't tell if he was barelegged or dressed in a pair of furry skin pants.
