I sit and stare
out upon the road
watching the cars pass
flicking light and sound
automated illuminance via asphalt
and hanging light posts

ever changing speeding wheels
turning to merge lanes
settling within new boundaries
if only they'd stop
would time then pass
and care not now

step by step taken
along path up ahead
leading across this road
to a better life
clothes flapping from wind
new noise playing now

half a step away
from half a life
do I stop here
or cross over here
the median of life
or stay and wait

I stand to see
distant things coming:going
yet everything passes me
do I fall down
let the wind flow
stop breathing end the show...
