Hey guys.

Need to put something out on Kindle. Got the latest Calibre (version 1.45) but things appear to have changed in it.

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to set an output file format. It's as though the option to set it is just gone? I'm grabbing a .doc and I want to covert to a .azw format, but I cannot set the output file type anywhere. All the googling I've done gives me instructions for earlier versions of the app, where the option to set output file is easily set.

Help?

It's in the convert books dialog, except that it won't convert from a .doc format. So save your .doc to a .rtf and convert. When you click on Convert Book a new dialog window is displayed. In the upper right hand corner is a drop down list of output formats.

Also, do you mean you are going to publish to Kindle Books or you want to load a file onto a Kindle. If you are publishing to Kindle Books, they only accept .doc format, so your cool. If you are going to transfer an ebook to a Kindle reader why an .azw and not a .mobi which is what kindles use?

Kindle's native format is AZW3 which is an upgrade of the basic MOBI format -- Kidndles can read mobi, txt, and PDF files but work best with AZW3

At first glance I read this subject as "caliber .45 help". I'm relieved to see that you don't want somebody killed after all...
