A massive fire at a homeless encampment beneath an underpass in downtown Los Angeles has shut down the 10 freeway indefinitely.

The fire occurred on Saturday in two storage areas beneath the freeway that also hosted a sprawling homeless encampment.

“The incident, which closed westbound and eastbound lanes of the busy freeway between Alameda Street and Santa Fe Avenue, will significantly affect traffic in the area, officials said at a news conference Sunday, without offering a timetable for reopening,” noted the Los Angeles Times.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said Angelenos should expect the freeway to be close for some time.

It's a major highway interchange that will snarl traffic for a year while they rebuild it.

Thankfully, for me anyway, I don't need to use it to get to my VA medical appointment later this month.

I never watched Escape from LA or the other one. The eyepatched character makes the movies seem too damn cheesy.

San Francisco has solved their homeless problem..................temporarily.

Yes, maybe they have, but I am damn sure they could do it permanently if the Feds didn't take nearly 40 billion out of the state and spread that money to those damn Red states to help make the lives of the people there a little better.

So how about all of you who live in those Red states, ask the Feds to stop taking Californians money and handing out that money to those poorer Red states and let California use that money to clean up their streets and help out their homeless citizens.

From what I understand there are only a few hundred thousand to maybe a million. 40 Billion spread out through that population would get them off the streets.

Arson is strongly suspected.

Who would set fire to a homeless camp?

Not to mention that maaaaany of the homeless in California come from those "Red" states because there are no opportunities and no real social support systems.

Hell, even when they do allocate money for the needy in those "Red" states, there is a better than fair chance that some corrupt politician will misappropriate that money for a famous quarterback’s pet project.

Tate Reeves I’m looking at you.

SAD!!!

Where are you guys getting this was a homeless encampment? I'm getting that it was a pallet yard that also stored chemicals, fruit, was in violation of permits for a number of reasons and frankly should never have been allowed to exist in the first place. This crap is exactly why we are supposed to have fucking regulations and city planners.
