Cabernet....

After dinner.

Damn that's good.

It is, but for us, it's even better during dinner, with a nice port or cognac for me, and a Baileys for my lady "after" dinner......

So what cabernet are you enjoying?

I was looking at theatre tickets earlier and apparently right now Neil Patrick Harris and Debbie Gibson are starring in Cabaret in NYC.

Doogie Howser I get as Cliff.

Debbie Gibson as Sally Bowles I'm not quite getting.

And because of that I'm not sure if Cabaret right after dinner is such a good idea.

It's actually a '97 Jackson-Triggs, from Niagra Falls, Ontario.

I usually don't touch Jackson-Triggs, but it was left over from company I had over the other night... surprisingly, it's not that bad.

:)

Never had a Canadian Red, but they have whites working so I'd sure be open to trying it. What vintage?

'95 Proprietors Selection.

The last bottle I had I wasn't crazy about, but it was a 2 year old. I'm partial to Californian Reds.

I agree though, Niagra whites have come a very long way in a short time.

I don't do red Wines, but I have me one of them there cabernets o'er yonder. Doors & shelves, and everything.

Noted year, thanks

They have redefined Icewine for the world.

I have a few of those too... built them myself.

It's not just grapes, Ontario has great white Pine as well.

:)

Yeah, they just need to redefine the size of bottle it comes in. I have to buy 4 of those bloody things just to make it through a dinner with friends.

~LOL~

Many sweet wines come in the 375 and 500ml sizes. Sometimes the store can order the larger sizes if you give them enough lead time. It's odd, because with the higher sugar levels they don't actually change as much once opened as a dry wine will, but clearly there are fewer people who have learned to appreciate them (which is good, since it keeps the prices more moderate.)

LOL

Yeah... fortunately, I live so close to the wineries that I can purchase at less than market rates.... until I buy the Cali reds that is.

We have vineyards in MN, too. Fortunately, I live close enough to the internet that I purchase Italians and California Cabs and so on.... :D

LOL.

Buying over the net has saved me a bundle... it's also made stock available that I couldn't get elsewhere. I've had some great French whites that I didn't even know existed.

You know... 2 guys alone in a thread talking about wine... people are going to start to wonder.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

There's nothing wrong with that at all.

I have a number of friends who are of a persuasion different than mine.

When there's no women around, what else IS there to do but learn more about wine?

Well, we could join in the fray about a war that won't exist for at least another 46 hours, as fun as that seems.

I'd rather talk about wine or kiss women. War pisses me off, and helmets mess up my hair.

Agreed.

There's reason to discuss war, and there's war with no reason. It's up to history to decide what to do.
