I know if you have an existing story and you want to change something in it or fix something you just do it and submit it with edit in the title. In this case what I want to do is change the actual title. It was supposed to be a two parter with another author handling the second part he never delivered and I was just going to close off the ending as a stand alone but want to take chapter one out of the title. Will Lit allow that or see it as a different story?

Oh and just noticed the misspelling and apparently you can;t edit the title of a post. D'oh!

You handle it the same way you would do a story text edit, except you use both the "notes" section and the "story text" section ( copy-paste one into the other after you finish whichever one you write it in ) to say what you're changing the title to.

Okay, got it. BTW you must be beside yourself on that Scouries reader thread you guys are killing him over there. You know I don;t really know him at all so have hardly dealt with him whereas I know he has been pissing you guys off for years but I find myself almost feeling bad for him. I think he believes his own hype.

That's the way, but it's a pretty iffy proposition. Sometimes you end up with the same story under two diffferent names. This has happened to me a couple of times. :(

well if that happens I can just delete the one with the original title. Or at least I think I can.

You can, but you also delete all the votes, PC, etc. That's why I left my duplicated titles in place.

Shit! I didn't think of that! Good call on that I guess I'd live with 2 if that happens.
For the record I have it anyway with that weird series thing LIt is doing.
I have an ongoing series Siblings with Benefits. it is up to 28
I did a five chpater spin off called Siblings with Benefits Lex Talionis (wanted to keep SWB in so my readers would know they are connected)
My page has those five listed after ch. 28 and says SWB is a 33 part series then has Lex under it as a 5 part series so looks like I got more stories than i do. They all have red H's though so it gives the illusion I have more good stuff than I do.

The possibility of human error is why I have always previously suggested making note of the unique Lit ID# for the story/chapter when making any edit.

The changes to the way Lit now displays story URLs just makes it too difficult to explain how to find this now, compared to the way it was before.

You can still find and note the ID#, though. If you go to the story in your submissions list and hover over any of the links associated with the story ( such as moderate comments ) it will display the Lit ID#.

Yeah, there are still bugs in the series coding. I changed the title on one of my LST3Ks after publication, and that resulted in two complete lists of the series on my stories page.
