this phrase has been stuck in my head since a friend used it to describe buying lottery tickets, esp referring to the feeling in between the purchase and checking the results.

then it occurred to me that someone could use this as a good story title, about a gal named Hope. Wouldn't necessarily need a lottery angle.

Any takers?

I don't know about that, but I have been thinking of a story based on the Lupercalia, the Roman virgin lottery. Might be interesting. Something on the order of a young, patrician aristocrat wins a virgin from the equestrian order in the Lupercalia for a year, despite the fact that she was betrothed to a wealthy country squire (and has been taught to view senators with scorn). He, meanwhile, is not yet betrothed, having resisted betrothal as is his right as the paterfamilias. When the year is over, she is expected to marry the squire and he is under pressure from distant relations to marry a cousin. Being a dutiful, but conflicted son of the Senate, he is loath to wed his erstwhile captive from the mercantile class, but she refuses to leave. Finally, he marries, thinking that she will get the message if he presents her with a fait accomplis. She simply seizes every chance to seduce him, and obstinately refuses to marry the squire. Finally, he does the prudent, Roman thing. He offers her a villa and the right to mate with him whenever he is visiting the countryside. She accepts, and he gets used to making MANY trips to that villa. :D

Everyone knows you can't buy hope... You can only rent it for a while. Or is that happiness?

I love the idea of Hope being the heroine's name! :) It sets up the story to go in many different directions. Like...is someone literally buying her somehow? Sexual slave auction? Prostitution? Was it just a misunderstanding? Like someone thought she was a hooker, and now she's considering it?

:)

or an office story, where she's the temp who's time is bought, who gets swept up in sex?

or

a twist on your slave auction might be a charity auction. Hope is a shy but knockout gal, whose best friend Chastity talks into doing the auction for a good cause...

I like this. :) It's an "innocent twist" to the slave auction idea. Anytime a show/movie has this theme in it I always wonder if that Charity "slave" does more for the person who bought them than the show can tell us. ;)

the local breast cancer babes are having an auction of guys. unfortunately, I can;t find out for you, as they are only auctioning off bachelors, not retroactive virgins of the married sort.

Damn. I'd buy ya in a heartbeat. ;)

Speaking of cock rings...

I told hubby if he forgot his wedding ring one more time I was gonna buy him a silver band cock ring for his new wedding band!

Ouch! I don't know about other guys here, but cock rings and anything of that sort sound painful.

Cock and ball cages are painful. A cock ring is supposed to prolong your erection. I had a friend who even used one when he masturbated. :)

Mmmm, creamy. ;)

I'm off to watch my L Word season one on DVD to inspire some porn writing! :D

Oh hell yeah. :)

But, on another note... I have a notebook slowly filling up on different story ideas that come to me because of that show!!

Because she is so fucking hot!!!! She is butch without being butch. She looks very sexy when she has her glasses on and light makeup!! Wow!

Interesting to see men into her as well. :)

P.S.

My story ideas from that show, so far, aren't fan fic. They're simply ideas I got on how to work characters of my own into sexual tales. :)

However, I have thought about doing fan fic of the show. Maybe one day, when I put a decent dent into my current ideas, I will...?

"Buying Hope" jogged some brain-cells and...

Almost instantly, I remembered that show I caught once on satellite TV, Hope & Faith...

http://www.johnrobertpowers.net/images/MainSuccess/Women/hope%20and%20faith%20ad.jpg

Kelly Ripa who played Faith on that show was pretty hawt IMO, and the Hope char played by Faith Ford (luv the lil bit of irony there) was older-sexy-blonde doable

But yeah, wouldn't keep watching a show like that 'cause I think they slowly drain away my soul... theyre so bland and unoriginal!

Hope & Faith stuck in my mind thou, from that point on, as a couple of great names for gal characters for lit tales, with much in the way of possible angles a story with their involvement could take.
