Rant.
We just repainted the deck on the front of our house. It's sort of a porch/deck/walkway - it was there when we bought the house.
Anyway, it was a fairly nice dark redwood kind of color, though somewhat faded and in need of a new coat.
So I bought deck stain, got everything ready, the plastic to protect the house, the brushes and rollers and buckets, oh my - opened the can -
Eww. Why would a stain called CEDAR be a pale tan color? Why? That isn't even remotely the pic on the front of the can. Though I wished for a change from the dark-wine coloring this was pretty abrupt.
Well, I didn't feel like going back across town to replace the stain, so I painted it anyway. It needed it, this was good quality stain, and basically, the hell with it!
Except now, since it has dried a bit darker, it is - butterscotch.
So, if you're driving around town, you just may see my house. White siding, black shutters, and a butterscotch pudding front porch.
