That sir, is no bug. This unusual creature appears to be a "Large Bee Fly", found in open meadows and gardens throughout most of North America. The gravid female of this family (Bombylldae) will follow a solitary female bee to her nest, wait for her to leave, then deposit eggs in the tunnel entrance that will hatch out and gobble up the bee larvae for sustenance. In any event this little guy is in the order Diptera, or the flies. Not Hemiptera, the 35,000 or so species of true bugs.TWB said:
