What is better private enterprise or government run business?

My feelings private enterprise is better. as private enterprise starts small and grows and spreads. Private enterprise promotes the inidivual success. private enterprise produces effective employement.

No argument here. We've declared governmental war on poverty, cancer, the homeless, terrorism (several times now), unemployment, hunger, world hunger, racism, ad naseum, but our government has lost every one of those wars, much the same as Korea, and Viet Nam.

But we beat Microsoft and Big Evil Tobacco...

Some industries need government regulation as part of the mix.... utilities is the one that's screaming at me right now.

Private Enterprise

Having worked for the federal government in accounting, I know how poorly they run things!

The government is so accustomed to spending as much as they want without regard for profit/loss that I don't feel that it would be capable of making a profit at any type of business.

California is a great example of what hapens when the government micromanages the energy industry.

I have to disagree with my experience in my three provinces habiitations over my span. utilites were always lower when it was privatized and there where many compoanies and no governmental control. when there was/is governmental control the prices were always higher.

Example. in the summer govermental control on NB Power {The Provincial power company} 12 cents per kilowatt hour in the winter 17 cents a kilowatt hour.

Competition makes the world go round. I'd hate to live in a country where the only shopping option would be to drive to a government store in my Yugo or Lada to buy government bread. But what do you expect from an evil capitalist.
