Business Travelers Unite

I’ll be back in London, my plan to restrict my nights away to two having fallen over before we are even out of January... but unlike the hardy souls here, I will be enjoying my own company. It takes a level of confidence I don’t have to brave a bar or restaurant alone...

But, oh to be a fly on your hotel wall...

I used to always eat in my room. To go out alone for dinner just seemed uncomfortable to me. Now? I don’t care so long as there is a bar to sit at and eat. I don’t like to go sit at a table alone. But the bar folk are generally in the same travel
Boat you are.

I don’t always have a lot of confidence. And I’m sometimes pretty shy. But it’s getting better. And it won’t improve without just putting myself out there.

Also, here I sit at my airport gate ready for another week...

What I usually do when I'm in a hotel on my own is have a drink at the bar and see if I feel comfortable. If I do, I'll ask for the menu and have my meal there. If not, I'll get something to go or leave and order room service.

Despite my one adventure, normally, it's just chatting with other folks on their own. I've met some interesting people that way.

I'm single and my friends aren't always available when I want to go out, so I've become pretty used to going for a meal and/or a drink on my own at home. Which I think makes it easier when I travel.

One time while waiting to meet a friend for a Broadway show, I had a drink and ended up talking to a retired chorus girl who had traveled all over the world with different musicals. She was on her own too. She was in her 70s and taking acting classes. It was a great conversation and really interesting. Better than sitting there alone, we had a nice time.

this is a good strategy

I relate to this. I generally don't like to eat in my room so I've had to learn to be okay with eating alone. If I'm traveling to the same location for an extended period of time, I will frequent the same restaurants where I'm known by the staff. What I'm still not good at is introducing myself to strangers.

looks Like I will be out this week...hit me up if anyone is around

I don't mind eating by myself. Talking to strangers is really how receptive the other appears. With most people burying their nose in their phone nowadays, it is much harder to strike up a conversation than it use to be. The phone is the bane of social interaction.

if there are others at the bar, i leave my phone in my purse. i have an apple watch, so if its something urgent i'll see it. otherwise.. nope.

i agree that phones/laptops/ipads are conversation blockers.

That is why you get into conversations at the bar but that is rare for a woman not to have a phone constantly in her hand. I think it is great that put your phone away. Wish more would do it.

Porn in the hotel...

I travel a lot and truthfully I am an aficionado of strip clubs but over the years I have had a couple interesting experiences, mostly while attending company events but my favorite involved porn in my hotel.

No, not porn on the TV but a real honest to God porno that was being filmed next door to me at a hotel in Vegas. I heard noises through my wall and thought that it was from the TV next door. It just so happens that one of my team was right next door so I banged on the wall to try and get him to turn the volume down.

No luck, so I banged again and again but still no luck. Then I get a knock at my door and when I open it its a guy who asks me to not bang on the wall any more and he offers me two crisp 100 dollar bills if I promise to ignore the noise.

A few hours later I noticed that it had got quiet and then I heard the door bang loud so I ran to look out my peep hole and sure enough about 6 guys were carrying equipment and two young women were trailing behind them.

I found out in the morning that the guy I was traveling with was on the other side of me.

Anyway that’s one story for you. I’ve got one about hooking up with the daughter of the CEO of one of the Silicon Valley companies I worked for but that, as they say is another story.

Dude, you can’t just leave us hanging!

Do give us some details.

;)

Interesting thread...

A few years ago I was traveling rather extensively for work and would have enjoyed posting the whereabouts and whatabouts (is that a word?) in here.

I hope the travelers out there are having fun...

The CEO’s Daughter

Ok ok ok...

So, in my space, Enterprise Software Sales we have annual gatherings called Sales Kick Offs or SKOs for short. These are big multi day very expensive events that include lots of socializing. Typically they are held in some hub city where all the reps from around the globe can easily get in and out, so places like Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco are common. If the company is truly global London, Amsterdam, Paris and Frankfurt are not uncommon. More recently Silicon Valley companies have been hosting them in San Jose, or Palo Alto to reduce costs.

Anyway I’m in San Jose at a get together that’s taking place at my CEOs home up in the hills. His house was something out of f’ing magazine. It was super opulent and very hitech. I’ve been in software sales for 28 years and I’d rather listen to fingernails on a blackboard than the sounds of Sales guys ass kissing the bosses boss so I went down to sit by the pool and nurse my drink.

When I got there I smelled weed and then when the person smoking noticed me she put her joint out quickly and got up to leave. I couldn’t really see her in the shadows but I apologized profusely and told her that I’d leave her alone but she said it was ok and ask if I smoked. Remember we’re in Cali and smoking weed is pretty common.

I told her I did but since my boss and his boss was upstairs I probably shouldn’t then held out my hand for the joint and the lighter. She laughed and then we sat down and smoked a bit while talking about shit. She had just bombed out of UC Berkley and she was catching shit about that. I told her my story about bombing out of ODU inVirginia and somewhere along the way we were kissing and then fondling and then consuming and finally back in her room fucking like stoned college kids.

I never got caught but I did miss the buss back to the hotel and this was pre Uber so getting a taxi to come out to a location in the hills with out a specific address was a challenge but I made it back to the hotel eventually. I never saw her except for the one time and boy was that a story I wanted to tell but of course I never could until now that is.

That is a hot story, I am sure a lot of us here have dreamt of fucking the boss’s hot daughter.

You have the basics for a potential great account of that chance encounter you had. But of course, the crew of this magnificent web site will want to hear more of the horny descriptive details of that evening.

You’ve got a good point. All the stories I’ve written over the last 10 years have been for the young ladies I’ve fancied so it never occurred to me to write about that or my favorite escapade with a business woman I met in Barcelona.

Thanks for the prompt Vitriolhack. I’m going to follow through with your suggestion.

My pleasure. Do let us know when you will publish it. I would love to read it.

Hmmmm, I need to decide if the Barcelona escapade would make for a better story than the CEO's daughter for the first of the "On the Road" series.

Would you be willing to give me your considered opinion oh guru of Literotica fame???

I have a couple of days at home before back on the road. Where is everyone this week?

Lucky you! I went home Friday night and was back in flight Sunday morning.

I’m back in Jersey for the third week in a row. In January. As a southern girl.

I leave again Wednesday morning so back to a hotel.

I am not traveling but it is the start of another week of traveling for some. Hopefully the after-work activities will continue for those on the road. :)
