I got this from the news wire. It appears that both the checkpoint and the Taliban commander were each wearing burqas. The Taliban commander was obviously wearing the burqa for disguise. Why was the checkpoint wearing a burqa? Comment? TAI.

Taliban commander caught in Afghanistan[size]

KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan soldiers caught a senior Taliban commander at a checkpoint who was wearing a burqa, while NATO forces on Wednesday fought Taliban militants in the second day of the alliance's largest-ever offensive in Afghanistan.

Mullah Mahmood, who is accused of helping the Taliban detonate suicide bombs, was caught Tuesday in Kandahar province while wearing the all-encompassing Islamic veil worn here by women, NATO said.

"Alert (Afghan) soldiers at this checkpoint spotted the oddity and quickly arrested him," NATO said.

Mahmood was caught trying to leave the Panjwayi area of Kandahar province — the site of a large NATO battle last fall where hundreds of Taliban fighters were killed, NATO said.

This reinforces my long-held belief that many of these hardcore leaders actually want to be women. I think we should accomodate them and when we capture the high-rankers in the organization (especially Bin Laden),we should give them transgender surgery. Let them live out their lives as women, since that's what they obviously want, deep down. Who can blame them? Burqas are HAWT! :p

I bet it was the shoes that gave him away.
That's very likely, Abs. The Afgan Burqa covers everything from the top of the head to the feet, leaving nothing showing at all.

I find it interesting that he would disguise himself as a woman and try to cross the border at a checkpoint, when he could have crossed anywhere else without the disguise. There are no fences, guards or anything else except at the major road checkpoints.

So he wouldn't know it was a checkpoint silly.

You have to let people know there is a checkpoint. Else they will try to just drive past. Then you have to shoot them and the waste of ammo is a sin.

It was an internal checkpoint not a border crossing. He was moving from one province to another within Afghanistan.

Ummm, Zeb. There are only a dozen major roads in the entire country. I can't see how it would be so hard to avoid a checkpoint anywhere in Afganistan
