I'm still trying to figure out the buddy list. Since you can see on the front page who is logged in at any time, why do we need a separate list to tell us the same thing about a few select people? There must be other advantages I haven't found yet.

I believe that it can be used as...

an IM kind of a list, as well. Yes?? *g* If you add the name..you can have conversations.

I kinda wondered the same thing, but I'm guessing maybe it's to make sending PM's a bit easier. Just a thought........ :)

Hmmm.. It must be like a mailing list to make it easier to send a PM. Instead of having to type the name, you click on the name in your buddy list. Of course, there is that little "PM" button on the bottom of posts already so it is probably easier to just click on that.

Is the PM feature supposed to be the board version of instant messaging?

You can't see everyone on there. If they have chosen to hide their name from the public but be on your buddy list then it would be handy.

We tested that and if you are in "invisable" mode on the main board you are also listed as "offlline" on the buddy list. Hiding your name from the public also seems to hide your name from your buddies.

I,m guessing, but.......

If someone is on your "buddy list", you get notified as soon as they log on. Instead of having to go to the main page to check for them.

Oooh a secret. Well, then I give up. Was my only thought for the day. well, about that. Think of other things too.
Hope someone figures it out. Where is Harold when we need him?

No, I can't think of a logical reason to have it either, other than saving you time to look up a post of someone you want to message with. We have it over at Shiny Happy Land too and I use it quite a bit.

this would be something for Laurel or Manu to answer for us.
