As we all know I am seriously addicted to BSG (Battlestar Gallactica). I have not been this addicted to a TV show since the original Charlie's Angels series in the 70's although I had a better excuse back then because I was 10 years old. Anyhow ... lol

For BSG fans and fanatics of Bob Dylan and Hendix alike: All Along the Watchtower

What interests me as a fiction writer is how this particular song was used in a sci-fi story where no character would have even heard it ... Intriguing. Also interesting considering we have discussed how music can have a positive or negative affect on a story by dating it.

A potent song and an interesting blog - even if I have not lead you to Dylan or Hendrix.

There's too much confusion!

(I'm addicted, actually. I keep playing those last few minutes with the song finally emerging. Any further opinion would be clouded by my addiction.)

(Season 4 only out in 2008, we even have to wait for the fracking soundtrack of season 3 until August... Gods damn it!)

LOL - Too much confusion, there must be some way out of here?

Well, now you need to wait until tomorrow...

(The sound really should be even louder)

I am currently obsessing over this detail: Starkbuck returns from the dead claiming she's been to Earth, and she's flying an original 1978 BSG Viper! What is the significance of that? Where did she get it? Did she steal it from Dirk Benedict during her stay here?

ROFLOL - only a true fan would get this detail. I believe she is a CYLON! The unmentioned one in the book of the colonies and seen only by one who LOL takes the chamalla extract... kind of sounds like Jewish cabala no?

They have lead us to believe that Starbuck was a cylon in a more obvious way than the others but there's one thing I don't get about that. If she is a cylon why didn't the other cylons figure it out when she was held captive in a hospital on Caprica where they were doing tests on her?

Spoilers, people - spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of us are haven't started watching Series 2.5 on DVD yet.

It does my heart good to know that there's other BSG groupies out there. I thought I was alone.

I think it's the best TV show I've ever watched. Deep, dark, witty, cutting edge and a bunch of other good adjectives all seem to fit.

I won't go into any spoilers for people that haven't seen them all yet.

There's a ton of good information to be had at SciFi

Spoiler Alert!!!

To me, I think it's pretty evident that Starbuck is the last of the Final Five. I just think she's in Lee's head like Six is in Baltar's.

Weren't Kara and Zac married (or going to be married)? Remember back in season 1 when Leoben told Roslin that "Adama is a cylon" before she flushed him out the airlock?

Wouldn't this make that come true?

Last night I developed a new theory on the identity of the 5th cylon: Bob Dylan.

Bob Dylan The Cylon wrote "All Along the Watchtower" while the 5 last cylons were still together, being programmed, waiting for the time to be introduced into humanity. This is evident, because the other 4 cylons say they remember the tune as if something from their childhood. Then, Bob Dylan was sent to Earth, wrote the song again - he doesn't know he's a cylon, of course - etc. When the 4 cylons started hearing bits of the song echoing in the ship's structure, it was because Starbuck was getting closer, and the only thing that would play on her piece-of-crap museum Viper's sound system was a Bob Dylan 8-track that she had bought for $0.99 on eBay while she was here on vacation.

Except he couldn't possibly know that. The 5 are unknown even to the cylons. ;)

It seems to me that even the cylons keep secrets amongst themselves and let's face it, what they said in season 1 may have changed by the end of season 3 (as the scriptwriting evolved) so maybe that bit of foreshadowing was planned or maybe it was an accident that Ron Moore will erase from the "Silver Edition DVD" that he puts out in ten years.

MORE SPOILER ALERT

Moore has already said in an interview that Tyrol, Tighe, Anders and Tori are indeed Cylons, but he said they're a different kind of Cylon. He gave no further explanation than that.

I think 6 knows who the last Cylon is. There was a brief scene in the original mini series that makes me think this:

Six and Baltar are walking in along the riverwalk (before the attack). Six says that she has to go meet someone. Baltar says that he's insanely jealous, etc. They part ways. Six then turns around and says "Oh, there you are.", but it never shows who that person was. In the next scene, Six reveals to Baltar that she's a cylon.

Another interesting tidbit:

When D'anna sees the final 5 cylons just before dying, she looks at one of them and says "I'm sorry, I didn't know". I'll bet that she was talking to Tighe. She was apologizing for him losing his eye on New Caprica.
