You're not bright. The point was that the sentence precludes an assumption, and there is rarely any evidence supporting it

Well the point is... I don't agree that lawlessness is the root cause of the crisis facing America. Nor do many of us. There are plenty of other causes that are equally valid.

It may seem obvious to you, but judging from the content of your posts, your views on American society (as well as your understanding of how a free and democratic society is supposed to work) are pretty warped.
