I should be making an incognito appearance in Dover on Tuesday afternoon.

If time and weather permit I will take pictures of St. Margaret's Bay.

Og

Went there but my digital camera ate all my batteries, including two spare sets, without producing a single picture. Will try again in a week or two.

That's a shame. :(

Never mind, I'm sure you'll get some eventually.

I hope you didn't get caught in any sharp showers while you were there. We had some wicked blasts of hailstones here today.

Hey, it's the Brit thread, we have to talk about the weather now and again. :D

Dodged two showers of hailstones by sitting in my car but still saw France from Dover.

Kewl! I got caught in one, and stung like crazy by them, just walking over to the school.

On a clear day, if I'm stood on top of Hengistbury Head, I can see the Isle of Wight to my left, and the Isle of Purbeck to my right! Not quite the same, but still...

Cavers in Mexico

The Mexican Government is less than pleased to find that a group of military and ex-military Brits were exploring in a cave on tourist visas.

I tend to think that Mexico has a point. We Brits get everywhere. Nowhere is sacred.

Would you like a group of military Mexicans exploring your nether regions on a tourist visa?

I doubt they'd get in, but, no, I wouldn't.

Something was rather dodgy about that whole scenario; they even refused rescue from the locals and waited for rescue teams to arrive from the UK. Tourists? Yeah, right!

Lou

P.S. Pops, you scalliwag, you embarrass me, sir. ;)

:( Sadly, I'm not British.

Does it count if I'm enamored with everything/everyone British, except the exchange rate?

~lucky (brit lover)

I would've had a cuppa, but I've started on the wine now.

However, just so you know: mine's white with one and a half. :D

Lou

P.S. Hi, Lucky! Great to see you in these parts.

Had half a bottle of Bordeaux last night - bought in France a week ago.

I think I'll try the Chablis tonight.

Back to France next week. Day trip on foot is only £1.00. By car with up to two passengers £9.99. A Volvo estate has plenty of room for wine (and cheese).

If on foot - Lunch is a bottle of wine, a loaf of fresh French bread and a hunk of cheese. Swiss Army knife opens the bottle, cuts the cheese, and worries the security guards. Sterilising the knife afterwards is a nuisance.

Aha! A frequent tripper to Calais. Must be doing it to evade taxes. Customs will impound that Volvo soon.
