Bridget Jones

Interesting. I saw the movie first, so perhaps this is an exercise in bias of first interaction; when I read the book, I thought the ending considerably worse. Didn't care for the dramatics with the mother's boyfriend. But loved Bridget's voice and character.

Anyway, I started re-reading "Edge of Reason" today, and at first I was picturing Rene Zellwegger as Bridget, but I didn't have that vision the first time I read it so I tried to banish it.

the book is a lot baudier, and more fun than the movie too.

(although it takes a little while to get used to the partial sentances and stuff. I don't journal like that does anyone else here?)

baudy- boady- how do you spell that?

Yes, I quoted myself, because I lost my place:)

Anyway, who should come into my mind, but our very own svenskaflicka!!!

Anyway, I certainly hope that this will not offend or hurt anyones feelings. (for example, I sure hope that svenska doesn't hate Bridget Jones with the white hot passion of a thousand suns!) But I think that if svenskaflicka had been cast, the movie would have been a million times better.

svenska just has that kooky fun loving vibe, and for some reason I get the impression that she has that kind of half crazed life full of offbeat adventures. (although I could be wrong, who knows)

where is Proffessor Snapes #1 fan anyway?

Has she been around lately? I kind of miss her, she hasn't been on the same threads as I have (very much) for a long time.

Bawdy :)

I do agree on the general tone of the book. I quite liked that. I just had trouble with the ending - but again, perhaps because I saw the movie first.

They really* changed the second one for the movie.

Hugh Grants character was so popular (I guess) that they brought him back for number 2 even though he's not in the second book at all!

I read the books first, and the second one had me rolling around on the floor laughing!

As to the movies, I like the artistic licence they took with Hugh's character, adding in the fight scene in the first one, and just adding him in the second one.

But with the second movie, I think they went all out to make her look terrible [did she use a brush?] and stupid, and colin too stuffy [he is divine], and this sort of ruined it for me.

But I think the movies are worthy of the books, because they really captured the essence of bridget.

And it is funny/scary to think that every female I have spoken with can identify with Bridgit. Are we really that neurotic?
