Okay...this is a question for all you ladies out there who have had breast reductions or for those who know someone who has had one. What was the experience like? Are you happy you did it? Did you lose any nipple sensitivity at all? How was the scarring? Also, I've done a web search but I couldn't find any info on the requirements for OHIP covering the surgery. I've tried the Ministry of Health's website, but nothing!

Anyways, as you can probably tell I'm thinking about getting the whole thing done. I've always had breasts that are larger than average (B cup by grade 4) but it's really starting to bug me. They're always in the way, I can't find a bra that fits, and I'm constantly rolling my shoulders back because they get tired trying to hold up the weight. I long to walk into a lingerie store and wear a normal size bra...I feel like I'm wearing another shirt instead of a bra there's so much fabric involved! I'm tired of looking at the "plus-sized bras" when I'm not plus-sized. I want to be able to lay down on my stomach and feel comfortable...but I'm scared about doing the whole surgery thing! So any comments would be helpful! Thanks!

If you can get a doctor to state that it's a medical problem, OHIP will cover the surgery. But I believe that it has to be due to actual physical complaints that you're having due to overlarge breasts, and strain on your back and shoulders.

Apparently the scarring is fairly minimal anymore, and there's no loss in sensitivity afterwards. I know a girl that had them done recently, and they took out something like 2.5 pounds from both breasts combined.

I need to get my dick size reduced.

Sixteen inches are just darn inconvinient.

OHIP will only cover if there are documented health issues as Freya said.

You have to have suffered shoulder/back pain that is on file and related to the size of your breasts.

My G/F got it done last year and it took her 2 years to get the okay.

Damn...I've only been able to find info regarding US insurance companies and the requirements are different. I was hoping to be able to do this as a preventative measure before the real shoulder and back pain kicked in. My shoulders have just been tired lately and I'm sick of just been physically uncomfortable and barely being able to do physical activity because they're in the way. I'm just ready to cut them off myself!

Much back and shoulder pain comes from wearing the wrong bra type or size. Go to Sears, or another good bra store and have the salesperson measure you for the proper size. It's tempting to wear ones that are smaller, or more sexy - because some of those larger sizes can be so motherly looking, but if it's affecting your back/shoulders/neck, it might be worth it to look a bit motherly.

There have been several threads on breast reductions here in the past. I don't think many of the women that posted about their own experiences post anymore, but you could read what they had to say then if you do a search.

I know I'm not wearing the right bra size to begin with. It's just it's REALLY hard to find something above a DD in stores. Wearing something that doesn't look motherly isn't the problem, I haven't worn a sexy looking bra ever because they don't make them in my size. But bra size isn't the problem...I can feel the weight dragging off my shoulders and when I wear a bra that's the "correct" size, I'm uncomfortable because there's just too much fabric and it gets in the way plus I'm still constantly readjusting my shoulders to be comfortable. What can I say, I'm 22 years old and I'd love to wear a cute bra ONCE in my life. Plus, my breasts get tender about 2 weeks before that time of the month (in other words, half of the year) and having any fabric touching them can be painful and there's plenty there to hurt!
