It was beautiful today so the wife and I took the bike out for a ride. We had some things to buy and the bike was going to be perfect. We did our shopping and filled the tank on the bike then got lost. We did something like 110 miles going to and from a store that was maybe 5 miles from our place. We didn't mind in the least.

As we were heading home we saw a car pulled over on the side of the road with the trunk lid up. I grabbed the brakes and slowed down so we stopped just beyond the car. Climbing off the bike we walked back and found the driver of the car standing there holding the jack handle as his wife looked on. It didn't take me more than a minute to figure out the problem. They had a flat tire and when they had pulled off the road they had done so into soft sand. The jack wouldn't lift the car.

As I was looking the situation over and talking with the guy as my wife talked with his wife several other bikes pulled over. Before you knew it there were ten bikers standing around this guys car. The poor guy was looking worried because of all the U.S. Flags on peoples vests and was looking in concern at his wife with her head scarf.

He watched in amazement as two guys roared back down the road and started waving traffic into the left lane. He stood there in shock as the rest of us pushed his car out of the sand and onto the pavement where the jack would have some support. Once that was done it only took a couple of minutes to pull his flat and replace it with his spare. Then the guy got even more of a surprise. One of the guys knew of a station not too far from there that could fix his flat so he wouldnt have to run on his donut. We, all five bikes, escorted him there and watched as his tire was fixed then we helped remount it on his car before sending him on his way. The poor guy didn't know what to say, although his wife did promise to add us to her prayers.

I had a warm fuzzy feeling as I rode home. It had been a great ride and we had helped out another person. (Not to mention broken several stereotypes.)

I always love reading your threads, Cat. :rose:

And you've made me more aware (and extra careful) when driving with bikers on the road.
