Branding?

I'm working on a story where the natural culmination is for a female sub be branded while she's having sex with one of her tormentors "marking" her.

I've never fantasized about being branded or even been interested in reading stories about it so I'm asking for advice.

Naively, I'm thinking about a hot poker being heated in a fireplace and pressed against the sub's butt or shoulder for a few seconds to leave a permanent scar about the size of a quarter. Intensely painful, of course, but is this scenario plausible?

I mean plausible, yes. Without massive injury and risk of complications, not at all. I’ve seen someone get a small brand by a body mod artist and it was done very carefully but it is extremely risky (and had to be done under the table cause no business insurance covers that). So in a fantasy story? It’s fine and people will like it but in reality for a true brand it is not realistic imo.

I do like the idea of permanent marks, there was a tattoo shop which also did piercings and branding. Its a good idea for a story,especially for a bdsm dom sub story

Yes I approach it in my most recent story I haven't yet submitted, but I decided to step back. Save it for another day, I may already have enough in this one.
I like the idea of the man submitting to his Mistress, frightened but obedient, bending over for the branding...Possibly in front of an audience.

It could be a man or a woman presenting to there owners, could be many ideas, the wife is owned,the husband is a cuckold, both branded and tattooed.

Actually, I remember being a very young sub and playing at being owned. I accidentally gave my self a crecent moon mark on the back of my hand by pressing it against the coils in the oven for a few seconds.
The mark lasted a couple of years but not permanently.
The scar from where my friend spilled boiling caramel on my arm, when we were teenagers, is still there several decades later, but very faint now.
Based on that, I’d say it would take a high temperature and enough time to reach deeper layers of tissue and you’d need a way to hold the person still enough.

I don’t think these things have to be super accurate in a story. It’s not like it is a how to.
