Hello SS!

Time. Patience is not a virtue of mine, sadly. lol
I need to practice patience more.. I am an instant gratification kind of girl. Or is that, spoiled? I can wait.. I hope all is well with you!
I can't think of anybody who deserves being spoiled more ...

As for well with me ... I started Phys Therapy for the back (finally) ... which means it is even more painful ... but hopefully it will prove a good thing.

I totally blew up at work today in an all hands meeting with the big boss (three levels higher in from Detroit) ... basically over the fact that I (and others) are totally overworked. So either my name is mud (and I sure it is in some quarters) or I've done something good ... certainly got a couple of attaboys from my fellow exhausted co-workers ... my direct boss on the other hand ...

Hi FG and SNS!

Hi SecretScribe :)

I can sympathize with the overworking part. I'm a registered pharmacy technician & a supervisor at a drug store, where we dislike our new manager immensely. (Look in the dictionary under "idiot" & his picture will be there...we liked our old manager, so it's not just an authority issue)

I believe the big wigs need to hear about problems that are happening. (of course our market manager, who's directly over our manager, tells us to "stop complaining & find a solution".. which our solution is get rid of our manager.. but that won't happen.. <laughing>)

Anyway.. I guess that's enough bitching for the moment..
(what a first impression, huh?)
Nice to meet you.

 SNS

Nice to meet you as well! ... "stop bitching and find a solution" ... that's a person who's a problem in him/herself ... because they didn't hear the fact that you are trying to find a solution ... that's why you are talking to him/her.

*shakes head*

see.. that's what we say.. He just doesn't want to hear that the stores/people in his district have problems. he wants us to handle any & all problems without coming to him. My question is .. if we do that .. . what the hell is he there for? we're obviously doing HIS job... along with our own... <eyeroll>
I just don't understand.

Well ... that just tells me that this person is part of the problem, not part of the solution ... which does not bode well for you guys ...

Speaking up and letting it be known that things are shitty is always a problematic situation. Even in IT where individualism and openess is culturally prized ... I know I've made enemies today ...

Well.. if you did.. I believe it's better to find out who's going to stand beside/behind you when it comes to things like that. If they're your enemies over speaking the truth, they're not worth worrying over.

Actually today was interesting ... the one person who sent me an attaboy in email was totally not the person I expected ...

Some days are just more enlightening than others ;)

Well ... that's the problem with a management structure. It causes a re-orientation of priorities for people. When I say enemies ... at least one of those people is upset because it reflects badly management-wise on him, not anything personal. My own opinion is that he needs to realize that he's not really a mgmt type person and come back to being a techie ... but I'm not sure he's going to realize that anytime soon ... or frankly he would have realized that already.

I was lucky ... I realized many years ago that I was NOT a person who should follow the management ladder, not because I could not do it, but because I would not be a happy person. But for many people, it is so hard to say "no" to what our culture says is "advancement" and "positive".

I know what you mean.. I don't really like the supervisor part of my job. I enjoy the pharmacy tech position better. I'm good at what I do.. (other being "not mean enough" when it comes to being a supervisor).. but just don't enjoy it much.

:rose:

jobs should be enjoyed ... but it's not always a choice we have. I've been lucky for the most part. I've been able to say "no" to advancement (mgmt) ... but for lots of folks it's not really an option due to other circumstances ...
