I'm quite capable of losing my mind, but I doubt the kids would ever let me forget they're not babies anymore.

When you're still growing up, your body requires a lot of energy to enlarge the muscles and bones and organs...hmm...enlarge organs ...What? Oh, yea back to the topic...and to perfect their functions. When your body has reached its limit (of growth...height wise), all you eat is used solely for the survival purpose, as opposed to kids, who need to survive AND grow. And well, they truly "work out" more than we do.

Also, women tend to gain weight easier than men (how unfair! ), because we have naturally thicker layers of fat that our bodies are...programmed to maintain.

So, everyone, we are not yet equal, men and women, boys and girls...

you want weird but good? Try mashed potatoes, grated cheese and hot dogs all mixed together. I loved it when I was a kid, still do, and my kids love it.

Military Retirement pensions don't pay all that well either, but I gave up on ramen noodles when I discovered that I can buy 20 lbs of plain rice for about the same as a case of ramen packages and eat better for about four times as long.

I put on weight if I so much as look at a piece of cake. I hate people who dont have to watch their weight.

My stepson recently turned 18 and is in college, and damn if he didnt LOSE weight since hes been there. Hes tall and skinny...maybe 6 2 and at most...and Im being generous...155

My almost-18-year-old is still like that.

I can make a big pot of beef stew, and have to warn him to leave enough for the rest of us. He'll go eat a couple of sandwiches then. 6' 2", still growing, and maybe weighs 150 lbs soaking wet.

He'll fill out. Both of my brothers were exactly like that.

A couple of weekends ago I wound up with SEVEN children at my house all weekend: one 17, one 10, one 11, one 7, one 6, and two five-year-olds - only two of them were mine, and all but one were boys.

We went through $150 worth of groceries in twelve hours.
