Laura showed him the bags of feed in the barn. They loaded bags into the bed of the truck.

"When we get out there. We will cut pen the bags and pour it into the feed rounders... they mostly graze but we need to supplement with feed."

Laura stood in the bed of the truck and helped arrange the bags. She was working up a little bit of a sweat, her toned arms working hard.

Jason grabbed the bags and lifted them up into the bed of the truck. He half-listened to what Laura was saying about supplementing the diet of the cattle. He hadn't expected to be doing this much physical labor this soon, but it felt good. It felt better than his regular workout at the gym.

He watched Laura move the bags around in the bed of the pickup. He was impressed with her ability to move the large bags. He looked at her strong, toned arms. It was no wonder her body was in such good physical shape.

Laura dusted her hands off on her jeans.

"This won't take long. We just need to drive out to the pasture." Laura dug out the keys to the truck.

She started up the rumbling truck and slammed the door hard.

She smiled at Jason. "Come on, ranch hand."

Jason laughed at her and climber into the truck with her. He was amazed at how confident and at home she was on the ranch. He watched as she drove out to the pasture.

When she stopped he got out of the truck and followed her directions. She took control and gave him the instructions that he needed to get the job done and get it done right.

Soon the feed was dumped into the rounders. The cattle were loping in to get the feed. The cows were slow and gentle. Laura patted a few of them before getting into the truck.

"I try not to spend too much time with the cattle. I get attached to them. And while I am not a vegetarian, I don't want to eat a steak that I used to call by its name."

He worked up a sweat taking the feed from the bed of th etruck and dumping it in the rounders. Laura didn't miss a beat. It was as if she felt she had to prove something to him.

"I like a good steak, but I agree with you. I would not be able to eat the meat from an animal I had personal contact with. So, what else do we have to do? Or is that it?"

He walked slowly back to the truck waiting for her response..... wondering what else he had to do. The physical work was exhilarating and he was ready for more.. if needed.

Laura closed the bed of the truck.

"We should check the pond, make sure the water level is good..." She tossed him the keys. "It is just east a little bit, over that hill."

The cows ignored them, crowding the rounders.

"Jason, this place suits you."

Jason snatched the keys out of the air. He headed toward the driver's side door and opened it up. As he climbed in he heard Laura say that this place suited him.

"I'll tell you what Laura... I was thinking thinking the same thing about you. It is perfect for you and you are perfect for it. You belong here."

He followed her directions and headed for the pond. Once they got there he asked, "Okay, what do we do here."

Laura slid out of the truck. She walked down to the edge of the pond.

"It looks good, the water level is a little low, but not bad enough that we need to worry."

The sun was beginning to set. Laura looked out over the ranch.

"Now we just need to go feed the horses." Laura smiled. " Tomorrow we will have to muck out the stable, but it is too late for that tonight."

He followed her. Everything she showed him amazed him. She belonged here. He wondered how long she would stay. He hoped it was for a while.

"Okay then, let's go feed the horses. I am, however, really disappointed we are not going to be mucking out the stable tonight.... yes I know what that is."

He laughed a little as he drove the truck back toward the stable. Feeding the horses was something he thought he would like. After all, he really enjoyed being around the horses earlier.

When they arrived at the stable, Laura measured out a bucket of oats for each horse. Then she turned on the hose to fill the watering troughs.

"There are some sugar cubes in the box on the window sill. Roxy loves them. If you give one to each horse and give them a little pat, they will love you forever."

Laura went to Maeve's stall and whispered and patted her nose.

"hey, pretty girl.... " Laura whispered. She leaned her forehead against the horse's long face. "that's my good girl."

Jason went and got the sugar cubes and went from horse to horse. He was going to save Roxy for last. After giving each horse a sugar cube he patted and rubbed the side and undersifde of their neck. He was really enjoying the closeness with the horses.

The he went to Roxy's stall. He said hello to her and rubbed her nose. Then he gave her a sugar cube and rubbed and patted her neck. He lingered with her... enjoying the physical contact with such a beautiful animal.

He gave Roxy another sugar cube. He hoped he wasn't doing a bad thing by giving her the extra cube. He rubbed and patted her nose and told her that he hoped they got to ride again soon.

He walked out of the barn and waited for Laura by his car.

"Roxy is in love with you... She is peering over her stall door trying to see if you will come back."

Laura headed back to the house.

"Come on in. I will make some iced tea." Laura headed to the kitchen and got the water boiling on the stove. She looked just as comfortable in the kitchen as she did in the barn.

Jason followed Laura back into the house. He sat down at the kitchen table and waited as Laura prepared the tea. His eyes moved over her body from behind... admiring her firm curves. The jeans accentuated her tight ass.

"You look like you feel right at home here Laura. What would it take to keep you here? Would I have to marry you?" he joked.

She seemed like it was her place. She knew where everything was, and she certainly was doing a great job introducing him to the life of a rancher. In addition to that she seemed like the perfect woman to have around the house. She looked as comfortable in the kitchen as she did hauling feed.

Laura smiled when Jason joked about marriage.

"You better be careful. The single women in the county are going to be on you like flies to honey. An eligible man, with a beautiful ranch and no local ex wives or ex girlfriends...."

Laura delievered the tea. She placed a sugar bowl on the table just in case. But she drank her iced tea without any sugar.

The ceiling fan was whirring over head and Laura fanned herself.

"It is a little warmer tonight that I expected."

"Oh, so I am going to have to fight the women off? Damn, that isn't such a bad thing," he laughed. Jason watched Laura bring the tea to the table and sit down. He took a sip of the tea. "This is really good."

Jason looked at Laura and she glowed. The warm night placed a light sheen of perspiration on her soft skin. It looked good on her. "Yes, it is very warm. After that workout you put me through I am going to need a shower before going to bed."

He took another sip of the tea. His mind wandered to Laura in the shower. That was a very arousing thought, and he shifted in his seat.

Laura grabbed him by the hand.

"Bring your tea." She whispered.

She dragged him to the backporch. The sun was almost completely set and the breeze was coming across the pasture, moving the grass so it almost looked like waves of the ocean.

Laura kicked her boots off and padded around barefoot before snuggling into one of the rocking chairs.

"This is better..."

Jason let Laura drag him outside, spilling some of his tea as he tried to keep up with her. He laughed as she pulled him out into the grass and kicked off her boots.

He sat down in the rocker next to Laura. She was a lot of fun. It was obvious what had attracted Jared to her. He liked everything about her, and if she wasn't a recent widow he might be more aggressive toward her.

"This is much better. It is awesome out here. Much nicer than inside. This certainly is beautiful country, and I get to share it with beautiful company."

Laura pointed at the sky.

"Just wait, until the stars come out. The sky is clear and there is almost no light pollution."

Laura sipped her tea and waited for the pink and orange to fade from the sky. It wasn't long before the midnight blue sky was covered in silver stars and the glow of the full moon.

Laura watched the sky smiling. It was a good night. The first good night she had had in a while.

"Once you are here I have no idea why anyone would ever leave here. This is incredible. I could get used to this." He looked up into the sky and he breathed in the fresh air deeply.

He took a long drink of the tea, and then looked over at Laura. "I am in love with this place, and it is only my first day here. I am pretty sure that I am going to get real comfortable here." He smiled at her.

Laura got up and patted his shoulder.

"That is all I asked for, that God would find someone to buy the ranch that loved it."

She squeased his shoulder before heading inside.

"Goodnight, Jason. Sleep well... I am heading to bed."

"Good night Laura. Sleep well. Thank you for everything you did for me today. Thank you for staying on and everything you are going to help me with. I appreciate everything."

Jason watched as Laura walked back into the house. She was so easy on the eyes and she was very comfortable to be around. After she went into the house Jason leaned back in the rocker.

It was so relaxing that he ended up falling asleep in the rocker. It was so quiet, and so perfect that he slept through the night on the porch.

Laura undressed and slid on one of Jared's shirt. It still had a hint of his smell in it. She closed her eyes, the mix of leather, soap and a hint of his aftershave. It was almost like he wasn't gone.

She curled up in the shirt and went to sleep. She slept soundly for the first time in weeks.

Laura awakened with the sun. Then she was in the kitchen. She made biscuits from scratch. When the biscuits were in the oven, then she started the bacon.

Jason hadn't slept that well in a long time, and he didn't even make it to bed. he woke up in the rocker and smiled at the thought of sleeping on the porch. He stood up and stretched and looked out toward the barn.

He could smell bacon cooking and figured that Laura was up and in the kitchen.... of course if it wasn't Laura someone had broken in and was cooking breakfast. He went inside and saw Laura at the stove. "Good morning Laura. You sure are at it early this morning."

Laura was padding around barefoot in the kitchen. Her hair was loose and still a little tousled from sleep.

"I used to sleep till noon when I lived in the city.... but Jared, he always started the day as soon as the sun was up."

Laura took a nibble of crisp bacon. "Did you sleep well?"
