I was in the bookstore today picking up a novel recommended by Fury (thanks...the first one is awesome!) and I decided to see if there might be some sort of D/s for Dummies for the individual just starting on this path. I didn't find that specifically, but I found a whole juicy section of books that could be helpful.

Does anyone have any specific recommendation(s) for a book or two that would be good for a new sub with questions? I have read through the library, of course, but I'd like to have something 'real' to read, if you know what I mean.

Thanks!!

The New Bottoming Bookby Easton & Hardey (Greenery Press, Publishers) might be helpful. They also wrote When Someone You Love is Kinky , but that might be a bit too elementary. I've always heard good things from Screw The Roses, Send Me The Thorns (I think I got that one's title right); if you like looking at things from a universal viewpoint, John Warren's The Loving Dominant is good, IMO. Another general overview of the Lifestyle is Different Loving by Gloria Brame.

The day I see "D/S for Dummies" I will pop my head off with a shotgun. That's right up there with "Neurosurgery for Dummies", or "Biochemistry for Dummies" on the list of books you don't wanna see.

CutieMouse hit all the high points of books I can think of to recommend; if anything else comes to mind, I'll be back.

i just finished reading "the memoirs of M" and "beauty and submission" by Maria Isabel Pita. They are more about swinging really but i learned a lot about myself and came to some pretty significant realizations. The sub in the story has a lot of fear and doubt that she is trying to overcome which i can relate to. It might be worth checking out. i didn't like how shallow the girl was though. She thought she was the most beautiful girl around and nothing could compare to her. *shrugs* i enjoyed it anyway though.

Just started reading "Carrie's Story" and then "Safe Word" by Molly Weatherfield. Has anyone read these?

I bought a few books in the past year or so.

Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns was easily the most accessible (to the way my brain processes information) of them.

I also got The New Topping Book.

Different Loving

Sensuous Magic

When Someone You Love Is Kinky. (Which was boring to me. I was already far past that.)

and

The Loving Dominant.
