Okay, here's the translation for all others, and Xander, did you pick it up....translated it means: "I won't answer answer any questions until you register yourself *laugh*". By the way, Zuluboy's question to me was "where do you live?"
Was that close Xander? Could you understand it? Zuluboy, where are you from if you don't mind me asking? And I am only joking about the whole registration bit - but it would be nice to have you here more frequently.

*lol* ok - not that it matters but I too could have figured it out - if you ignore the way it is "written" but only read it out loud it can be understood even by me .. it is similar to Dutch witch is possible for Germans to read (even if only slowly and not once the subject gets too difficult I guesss) but then again, that may be me since I do have a "feel" for languages, speaking a few (not writing, mind you *g*)

You were a little wayward on his question to me though - he asked me not how I am but rather where I am (more paricularly where I "live". the word "woon" means "live" in this context.

But there are two accurate translations in danish, so I'll just give you both.
1: Den høje mand, ser den lille kvinde, kørende på sin cykel. Han forelsker sig i hende, med det samme.
2: Den store mand, ser den lille kvinde cykle på sin cykel. Han forelsker sig straks i hende.
Slut_boy. There are about a dozen other ways to say this in danish, since our words always have a double or triple meaning, depending on how they are put together.

But if I said it in a (not used to talk or write) way everyone would get the same meaning .. and you will see the similarities there..
Der lange Mann sieht die kurze Frau wie sie fährt auf ihrem Fahrrad. Er ist augenblicklich verliebt in sie.
Die lang man sien die kort vrou wie ry op haar viets. Hy is ontmiddelik verlief op haar

Thank you both so much for the replies. I must say that the German does seem a little closer the Afrikaans than the Danish. What is strange to me though is that Xander could understand the Afrikaans when I wrote it, but there is no way (to be honest) that I could have understood the Danish - I always had a better chance with the German.

I know what you mean Slut_boy. But I think it's because the spoken word is very simular to afrikaans oppose to the written one. When I'm travelling people usually think I'm either Dutch, or I live in SA. Because of my language.
The way afrikaan is written is in many ways the way Danes pronounce the same thing.

I have to agree with Xander and Hecate on this, if you know German, Danish and English you'll be able to understand quite a bit of the written Dutch/Afrikaans.
But I have to admit that when I hear Dutch (I've never heard Afrikaans) I have a hard time understanding it! lol

Hey, thanks for the lessons, I always wanted to learn another language, I've got some freinds here, that are from Germany and some that lived there for a short time, who are teaching me some German, but not enouph to get by, yet that is. I'm still learning and willing to learn more. Seeing the similarities in the different languages as just opened a new door for me. So thanks again.
