Okay, I guess I should know that storm will take this literally and expect me to post my pics for him, because I owe him, but I just wanted to say that I once saw a 70's porn where these two chicks were doing it with an asian guy with a really really tiny little penis, and when he came he yelled....

BONSAI!

It was just the cheesiest.

Like those shots of the dudes wearing their skyblue adidas running shoes and knee high socks with red stripes.

I have to go bonsai now.

I got new pots and I am stoned. I must get in the chi of it.

Okay, night all.

I'll post pics here tomorrow.

I...do not understand....how would a miniature tree possibly be associated with the sexual act of orgasm....I am dumbfounded...

:D

No shit! There are other bonsai addicts on lit?! :D I'm looking forward to those pics!!

Shit.. i forgot to re-pot my baby bonsai jade plant..

Thanks for reminding me Fishy.. I'll do that tomorrow..

I'll start now, because I have something new that I just did!

I recently bought two trees in stock pots and I am currently potting them in their bonsai pots for Spring training. :D

This is an Acer palmatum 'West grove' (West Grove Japanese Maple)

It has yet to bud out fully, though break has occured (even though it is fucking snowing lightly ) but is no longer dormant. The roots are actively growing so it was time to get it in it's new home.

This tree is about a 3 years old.

It may be hard to make out the sturcture but it really has yet to take on it's final form for certian.

It will bud out fully in about a month. The days are warming up. We don't have daffodil bloom in full yet, but it'll be here in a week or so, and then after that.... KABOOM! :D

I love spring.

I am off to do a Juniper.

This one is getting a drastic haircut and it will be cool to see the form it takes on from in the nursery stock pot.
:D

Root mass and moss seeded from David's Juniper that just got repotted. Pics of that coming up.

After...

I think it looks much better in this pot...

I found a great place here that is a massive greenhouse, and they specialize in bonsai, and they are fucking rad, and they are hiring, and I put in my application, and if they don't call me back, I am going to call them and pester them until they either hire me, or they get a restraining order. :D

Juniper starting it's 8th year! Not bad, huh?

I must confess...that I can not seem to keep a bonsai alive...unless you count my lucky bamboo. I seem to keep er...well...no I won't say it.

LadySam, There is a lot more to it than most people realize, and I don't mean just in the art form. If you don't have a very throughough understanding of the needs of the specific species you are dealing with, most likely it will die. Also, having a solid understanding of the physiology of woody plants is essential. Without this, one cannot be expected time and do what is needed for a tree, through it's life. Fert timing, type and proper application is essential. Proper watering is important, but often people kill things by over watering, or having them in poorly drained soil. Also, repotting is essential. It is all a very interactive process.

All too often, not saying you, but people in general, when buying a bonsai, assume that it is 'done' or something and all they have to do is water and feed. There is no such thing as a 'done' bonsai. You have to care for it in ways most people aren't equiped or able to do. It isn't that it is hard, just that it is a rather in depth concept that connot be learned in a short amount of time or off a 'care instruction' sheet. Almost always there is something essential lacking on those.

Techniques that are tried and true can be learned from manuals. I have begun to start one on basic bontany as it relates to bonsai and what the amature bonsai hobbyist needs to know, but it will take time to compile what I know into a data sheet.

Okay, so, this is a nursery stock grown Juniperus procumbens 'nana'. It was $7.99 at my local nursery.

I'll take that as a..........er,..........um............

You did owe me......;)

And thank you for the lovely pics, and the lesson in why I will never be able to share in the joy that is "live" bonsai...

You're lucky these are such beautiful plants......

If I only had a good pic of my giant juniper bonsai.... ;)

I really like your semi-cascade juniper, I generally I'm partial to cascade and root-over-rock styles. Do work with anything other than juniper?

hmm.. are you sure it was "bonsai" that he yelled and not "bonzai?"

(sorry, but the thought just came to me. i feel fairly stupid for not thinking of it earlier)

Scylis... I think you may be correct.
