Bongbong Marcos elected President of the Philippines

The stories about this focus mainly on the fact that he is the late dictator Marcos' son.

Nobody seems to know anything about his politics, except that he "campaigned on a platform of unity". What is he promising to do as president?

(I didn't make up "Bongbong," that has always been his nickname. Maybe it sounds less silly in Tagalog.)

Worse yet, his VP (separately elected in the Filipino system) will be Duterte's daughter.

Are there no decent or at least marginally human pols in that country at all?!

I used to roll my eyes at the complete nonseriousness of politics in the Philippines. But it's not like Americans have any business pointing fingers these days.

The amount of nonjudicial executions under Duterte is pretty fucking serious.

But, again, he says nothing about Marcos' politics or intentions.
