I was informed by my host server that nudity is not allowed. No art, beauty. NO NO NO!

It's amazing to me that we glorify action flicks and games that blow up buildings and splatter body parts, but we prohibit showing a tit?! Viloence and underwear commercials are acceptable, but the naked form isn't.

I have real issues with censorship so we're looking for a new home. If anyone can recommend a web designer or liberal host site, let me know.

Thanks to all of you who have supported Lotus. We appreciate it.

Laurel has it really good. She has Manu who is multi-talented. Where can I find me a techi? :)

Peace,

daughter

I noticed earlier today that some of the photos had been changed at Lotus.
Maybe you should have replaced the offending breasts with decapitated heads. I wonder if that would have drawn any complaints?
Anyway, I sent you an email with an offer.

EVE

Gurl, you know the drama queen I am. LOL

UP told me to calm down. I'll deal with it (while I dig my heels in to teach myself web design) ;D

Thanks, Eve. I will look. I hate moving. The troops rallied behind me and that is great. We'll see what happens.

Peace,

daughter

Tasty

The nudes on your site were all very tasty-- I mean tasteful-- nudes, daughter, not pornographic at all. This whole thing seems ridiculous, since Community Zero says it provides adult content anyway. Lotus Blooms has some erotic images, but is really very tame compared to a lot of the stuff on the net.

Bastards. Rat bastards.
Supression only breeds extremity.
Idiots.

No Pretty Titties!

This discussion puts me in mind of something Lenny Bruce once said. He had a whole rap about how injured violated nude bodies are fine to show in various media, but beautiful nude bodies are verboten.

I believe his quote was something like:

If the titty is bloody, it's good. If the titty is pretty, forget it.

Roll in your grave Lenny. It's 40 years later and we still can't get past it!

I think the logic goes something like this, at least on some subconscious level:

Violence=strong & active="masculine/manly"=Good
Nudity=vulnerable & passive="feminine"=Bad

And to make it worse, self-proclaimed feminists are in bed with the far Right on censorship issues. Remember all of the "pornography creates violence" and "pornography victimizes women" hoopla? Well, across-the-board censorship is the result when both the far right and far left decide that we, the public, need to be sheltered from nudity and sexuality--"for our own good." Some camps seem convinced that women (in particular) really need to be protected from sex and everything connected to it. I think those people need to get laid.

I also think somebody missed the point somewhere along the line.

Sorry to hear about the struggles over Lotus, daughter. I hope you find a new home for it soon.

Okay, since I believe that every so often people should take a position they with which they don't necessarily agree just so that the position gets stated:

Perhaps we all have naked bodies, so we don't need to see 'em on TV. They're not novel enough to make it onto the news. By giving them media attention, we're giving them unnecessary and unnatural emphasis.

However, only a very small minority of us are exposed to violence of the sort that's on TV. Therefore, we need media to show us what it is that is beyond the scope of our own lives so that we can be informed of the bigger picture, and so that we can act accordingly.

(edited to clarify: By "TV" I mean "media in general.")

What I need to see

I'm not sure I'm following something here. I don't need a 96 lb woman, slowly pursing her lips and poking out her breasts to sell me breath mints, cars, or anything else. Want to talk about exploitation? Nor do I need to see decapitation in ads for video games advertising these are appropriate for my children. I've seen plenty of violence. Very few of us are insulated from it. 911 rocked my world and I am in the midwest. It wasn't the pictures that shook my foundation. We have plenty of sensationalism on tv.

We aren't making a profit on celebrating the work of our peers. Our images compliment the messages our members are making in their work. Our community is private. We're not corrupting children nor exposing them to inappropriate materials. We carried a mature content warning and safeguards on membership. We act responsibly.

Folks we have moved. My link takes you to our new residence. The format is a bullentin board so that resolves the posting dilemma some had. Our gallery will have live links soon.

Thanks for all your support.

Peace,

daughter

The new home looks really good. I haven't been to the ezboard in a while, and I was really surprised by what you've done with it. I know moving a site can be a pain, but I'm sure it'll be worth it to have freedom from such strict censorship.

Part of the warning at Community Zero included:
You understand that the Content in a Mature Content community may involve language, content, and themes of a mature, or controversial nature.
Sexually explicit or pornographic content is not permitted under the CommunityZero Terms of Service.

I was reading this yesterday, and found it laughable. Not only were the images not sexually explicit or pornographic, they weren't even of a controversial nature. Mature, yes, but that's about it.

Anyway, good luck on the new site.

Thanks Eve

Moving is a pain and I'm a creature of habit. Still, it's coming along. I want to get back to my own writing someday. You know? LOL

I have three papers to write for school. I'm hoping after the homework and moving, I'll get back to writing. I've plenty of thoughts swimming from these latest experiences.

Peace,

daughter
